Our long-awaited Tanganyika shipment arrived in the States on Tuesday, May 26th. This was the initial phase of a Congo collection and a group of Zambian fish that had been held for us to arrive with the Frontosas. We did not know at the time this shipment was organized that it would turn out to be the largest shipment of Cichlids to ever leave Dar Es Salaam at one time - over 90 boxes with a total weight over 3000 pounds. The beautiful Frontosa stopped off in Florida and the remaining fish continued on to New Orleans airport. Pictured below is a horse trailer filled with African Cichlids, which turned out to be the perfect solution for transporting this enormous shipment.
To all of you who have inquired about this shipment, we are very, very pleased to confirm that this was the best shipment we have received in 10 years of direct importing. The quality and size of the fish is amazing and they will be ready for new homes in the very near future. There was less than a 2% DOA. Listed below are the fish received, the pieces available, and pricing. The remaining fish from the initial collection are due to arrive in the next few weeks, as well as a group of fish from the Bulu Pt. area. Information on those fish will be posted as soon as details are available. In the meantime, the final phase of the Congo collection is set to begin in the coming week.
