After a 3 year quest, we finally have a nice group of Petrochromis sp. Red Luagala Point happily swimming in their new home. For some, this is a temporary stopover until they are re-homed with new owners; for the rest, they will become our future (hopefully) breeders. This group is a breeder's dream - heavy females.
Unlike some of the other Petrochromis we have imported, namely Moshi and Longola, who were at war with each other from the time they were released into the tanks, these fish have shown absolutely no aggression. They exhibited very little stress and were enthusiastic feeders from the first offering of flake. By the first afternoon in the tank, they were following me from one end to the other begging for food. I have never had imported fish adjust this quickly.
The following pics are of two different males right out of the box and a part of the group immediately after being released into the tank. From packing in Dar Es Salaam to release at my home in Mississippi, these guys were in transit for 2 1/2 days.
Thanks for all of the inquiries. I will answer pms and emails over the weekend.
