Usually we don't have a gurantee on our livestock, but I do try my best to make the customer happy. Just come back and I will replace them for you. If you bought them at night, just call the next day and ask for me. As for closing time, we close exactly at eight and keep the doors shut because the area is not the safest and we have gotten robbed before. As for the bulkheads, honestly, if you turn them to hard, they will leak. Hand twist them, use no tools or you will kink the o-ring. They do make more expensive bulkheads that you can turn with tools, but those are pricier. Just come by and bring the old bulkheads back, I will credit you for that and the livestock that died. Thanks.
Donnie
The bulkheads did not leak where I usually have seen an issue from overtightening (around the bulkheads seal to the sump. The shrimps are in my freezer and I will consider bringing them by (it is quite a drive from here). I also think something was misunderstood with the closing time issue. I left when you closed, the lights ere actually being turned off while I was in the check out line. I called the next afternoon and told the person on the phone (female, didnt get her name) that the shrimp had died on my way home. They said it had been overnight and that of course there were no guarantees. Your store has been highly regarded in this forum so I was just curious if my experience was abnormal. Thanks for making every attempt to rectify the situation.
Mousta, my tiny suggestion would be to perhaps give them a second chance. Let Donnie fix things for you and help you make things right. You may be pleasantly surprised. I have had issues with many highly regarded sellers, including FosterandSmith, Amazon, higly rated sellers on AquaBid etc. If I speak up and patiently listen to suggestions and ideas, I have been pleasantly surprised.

Don't use teflon tape on pressured fittings. It's a great way to come home to a ruined floor. Silicone the threads and the aquarium seal... no worries.
As for shrimp. Depends how long they were in a bag. Shrimp let out a ton of ammonia when they are stressed. Most shrimp are sent from the wholesalers with carbon in the bags. If you are more than 20 minutes away, ask to put them on 02 just to be sure.

I got an example of there service. Went in yesterday to pick up salt and a fish. Donnie asked how my tank was going and I told him how my angel is killing my acans. He said hold on, came back with a fish trap. I said sweet what do I owe you. He replied nothing just bring it back when you caught him.
I have never had a prob. with City Pets. they have always been one of the best. But they don't make the parts they sale and sometimes you just get a bad part and livestock. If you let them know they will fix the prob.

good info in shrimp. btw chris, how long does fish gallery take to fill a co2 tank?
City Pets is ALWAYS my first choice of fish stores... I have two others near me,Xtreme Fish & pets, Fish & pets Unlimited, but I always go to City Pets first. Their service is impeccable, the employees are helpful as can be and will go out of their way to satisfy you and if they don't know something, Donnie always comes to the rescue! I also did not have enough money once and was told to pay next time I came in... they had forgotten when I did come back but paid them the money I owed.... makes good buisness sence to me :)
so a couple weeks ago i went to city pets to pick up 2 bulkheads. i got one threadxthread one slipxthread. put both of them on the sump one having a cap on it, the other my protein skimmer was screwed into. i noticed right away it was leaking. wasnt leaking at the sump connection, was leaking on the INSIDE of the bulkhead. thought that was odd so i took it all apart, put new teflon tape and screwed it all back together. STILL leaking. so i went and bought a new cap and new part for my protein skimmer. still leaking.......so i bought some pipe goo stuff that is supposed to work better than teflon tape but not make a permanent seal. still leaked...after all that i figured it had to be the bulkheads so i ordered 2 new ones from BRS. magically not leaking anymore with the same fittings i had in the old ones the first time. i dont know where these bulkheads from city pets are made, but apparently the interior diameter is off by a significant enough amount to leak through teflon tape and this fitting sealant stuff. so i figured that was a quick burn of 16 bucks plus tax, but the issue was fixed so i let it go. then 3 days ago i went to city pets and bought 2 peppermint shrimp and some snails. half way home my husband noticed both shrimp were belly up... am i the only one getting these kinds of problems at city pets?
Ive had faulty bulkheads before. I still use them except with a excess amount of silicon on it :P lol thing is leaking no more!
I'd known David and Donnie for years. They are good people and will take care of you. Of course you have to way through the crowd sometimes to get to them LOL.
I've been going to this place since I was a teenager. We always reffered to it as "The Dragon Ladies'' place. Never once have I ever had any problems. I'm not sure of the family history, but I do know that she still works there after 20 or so years and she's been just as nice to me as the first time I met her.
It's very possible that some customers are just Turds with no patients. It is a very busy place. Just get in line like the rest of us. My 2 cents.
