So I got a new (to me) acrylic tank. It's not your everyday tank dimension. I really wanted this to me a nice set-up b/c it's the last tank I'm adding to the house. Plus, anyone that knows me knows that I hate booboo gear. The fish is as important as the stuff we keep them in. So the mission started...the mission to find a nice custom wood worked stand and matching canopy to go with the tank.

First step was to make some calls and see about pricing. Not surprisingly, I couldn't find a standard stand and canopy to match this size tank. I made a few calls and got in contact with a few LFS. They told me for this dimension it's going to have to be custom made. They also told me I can expect pricing to be 1.5-2K for the wood type I wanted, stained, and the detailed work I was looking for. But that's just over my budget cause money don't grow on trees. I like nice stuff but I also got to pay my student loans.

As luck would have it, on the tropheus/petro tank tour I saw the custom work on Thomas' longola and RR tanks. Very clean work! I got with Thomas and found out that it was actually a member on the BOX that made it for him!

It was jhenry. I didn't know the guy but gave him a call @ 281-739-8723. He showed me a number of pictures of the work he did and it's all top notch Stuff! He normally does wood work for houses. After talking it over he got to drawing up a plan for me. He even drove all the way up North to my house to do the exact measures of the tank and talk over details.

Top notch work followed by top notch services. That's hard to turn down! So I place an order for both a stand and canopy. Priced at 1K compared to 1.5K-2K that LFS wanted.

Stand and canopy should be done in two weeks. jhenry even invited me over to his shop to see the work in process! I'm excited, pictures of the set-up will be coming when the stand/canopy comes in.

Randell you better watch your back son! I see you doing a little somein somein over there with that 240g. I can't just let you act a fool on me now!

Dude you could have asked me I would have told you about him. Plus I posted it in my discus thread as a bump for him since he hooked me up with the pieces on the 330. What kind of wood you getting it?

Yea, Justin does good work. I'm very pleased with the 2 stands he has made for me. Post pics when he is done. Should be good stuff!

I'm definitely gonna have him build my next stand. Get let Randall and Thai punk everyone out on the box. )

Oak stained in oceanic cherry. A lot of custom work on in the inside of the stand to protect the carpet in case there is a minor flood.

Custom top to the stand to support the acrylic tank bottom and extra support beams. This think is going to be like an armored truck!

You got to stop by my house. This thing is going to be MASSIVE.

I'm stop by his shop when I get back from Canada to check on the progress of the. He is located at 13003 Murphy rd suit #j-1 stafford,TX 77477

B/C I like to over do things.

By the way, how tall is your tank?

                              update time:

Went to see the work in progress two days ago. Stand looks good with the cherry stain on it!

I got some pictures on my phone. I'll try to post them tomorrow.

Just a little minor set-back but the stand and canopy will be ready next weekend.

                              Can't rush perfection!

I'm very pleased with the work done on the inside of the stand.

It has been coated and can hold water without damaging the wood!
