As a person that drives 2.5-3hrs just to get to one store (one way), my selection would be identical to Roujin.

              3. Fish Gallery for plants and special fish (although I've been very disappointed in my last two visits, and if I wanted to pay some of their prices, I might as well patronize my favorite store here.) Although I get approached by a salesperson, it sometimes feels like they are trying to outsmart me (but that is not majority of the time.)

              2. Fish Ranch II - fish selection. And usually worth the drive. I need to figure out when they actually get their new stock in though. The service always seems friendly every time I go in. I appreciate a store that just let's you look especially after being on the road for a while.

              1. HAW - price and looking for something special for a planted tank.

I've heard that the store is struggling. I hope it's not true. His selection of plants and South Americans fills a valuable need in the hobby.

Fish Ranch II is my favorite, but I was taken aback when I was in the store last Friday. More dead fish in every tank than I have ever seen before. It kind of scared me. One tank had fish with bent spines. Mike said he thought it was TB and was going to run bleach through it to kill it out. He's very busy moving stuff around, and I think basic maintenance may be suffering as a result. Or the guy who was supposed to clean the tanks didn't do a good job. I still bought some baby Pelvicachromis in my never-ending search for a breeding pair. I'm hoping to get 2 that will bond out of 6 that I bought.

Fish Gallery is by far my favorite place for plants if I buy them locally. I usually get them by trading with others, though. They have an attitude that sometimes doesn't hit me right, but they're okay.

I need to check out Xtreme to see if they have some of the Tangs I'm wanting.

HAW is my favorite place to shop....Talking to Dan was always a fun learning experience. Dustin and John (the new owners) are great guys and overall its a nice laid back atmosphere. I have found they have the best prices in town on almost everything. Something about that place that just seems like home...Im not sure if its the excellent customer service, the quality...or maybe the "hidden gem" feeling you get when you walk in. Both make this my number 1 LFS by a long shot.

Fish Gallery is a nice place to look around in...Incredible display tanks and they do sell safe start and bio spira, but thats about all I would buy at their prices.

Fish r Us and Fish Mart are closer to me on the North side of town...Both places are clean but seem to cater to mostly African cichlids, although Fish R Us does have quite a selection of other regions....they also have some nice pieces of Malaysian wood. Both stores are more expensive than HAW.
