I don't want to sound too critical here, but I want to let people know about this store and its bad practices. I went to this store a couple of months ago and it was ok. There were some dead fish around and some tattooed fish, but for the most part the fish seemed to be in good shape overall and the tanks seemed relatively clean. Hey, what store isn't going to have a few casualties; they were busy and just probably hadn't had time to get to them. I know they could do better, but you can't expect everything all the time. They might have a better store the next time I come in I thought.
Wow, what a difference a couple of months can make, for the worse that is! I went back today, and I don't think they have changed a single tank label since I was there last. Maybe this is just a thing for me, but I think it shows how much you keep up with your store when none of the fish in the tanks match their labels. This wasn't really the problem though. There was an extreme number of dead fish in several tanks. Some of the fish had clearly been dead in the tanks for longer than a day. As a matter of fact, in one tank that contained 20 fish, eleven of them were dead! The water had turned brown, and the tank was the single worst fish tank I have ever seen in a store (and I have seen some bad ones). Additionally, the large freshwater display-like tank at the rear of the store was full of sick, malnourished, and over-crowded catfish and large cichlids. I actually wondered if they had been fed in weeks; maybe the tank was just too high and nobody wanted to climb up there. I love these kind of fish so it was a sad sight for me. Above all, the biggest issue with this store is that more fish are sick than healthy. And by sick, I mean seriously sick. These fish would welcome ich infested tanks in other stores.
I think that this store maybe just be having troubles with dealing with the demands of a new business, but dealing with live products requires more responsibility than non-live items and cannot be neglected like shoes or whatever can. I will not go back until hear someone else tell me of changes or having a positive experience.
i went about 2 months ago and was really impressed... but maybe all the work is catching up to him.... i havent been since then but had alot of replacement parts for those cheap odyssea filters.....
210 gallon tank...empty.....wait till you see what is coming
i have been there several times, and i too have seen a decline to what it was 6 months ago. i rarely see the gentleman who originally helped me, and i just dont see the work going into it that there was originally. i too dont like tattoed fish, but if people buy them then people sell them. i mean i dont know anyone that goes to citypets to see real nice displays, they go to get good deals, and you do. same with Extreme to a certain degree, i got some really really good deals on some tangs way back when, but now they dont have as good a selection. i know a lot of stores have ups and downs but there does need to be a line. and tanks full of dead fish is always bad. and they arent a new store. i mean Fishgallery rushed their opening and had a lot of bad tanks, still has some that dont do well yet. but hey its part of the business. im sure that if they keep losing fish at that rate they wont be with us much longer. Maybe One of us should take over for them
Never fear I is here

Sick Fish??? EWWW!!! I hope they don't get them shipped in sick...if so, they need to change wholesalers! Maybe somebody needs to tell them that some of their tanks look like crap...like feedback on e-bay and aquabid! Do they have a comment box or jar? If not, maybe they need to LOL!
I think we should get a panel of judges together and go to all the stores around Houston and rate them all. Then post our results on here and other forums to see if things change.
I went back in today to see if anything had changed, and while the tanks were SIGNIFICANTLY cleaner and the fish much healthier. They have 5, yes, 5 freshwater stingrays in there right now. I wonder how much in fines that would be...
