Gonna try to snatch up another 4 to 8 of those Rainbows. My TR juvies are getting big. Hopefully by income-tax time I will have enough WC adults, and can move them out. Right now I'm right on schedule..

Jeebus is there a petro list like this one?

                  Went to Extreme today.

IMO, rank of fishes at Extreme (trophs only)

                  1) WC Bulu points. The body shape was good and black was nice. Red spots could be reder but I'm assuming they need to settle in.

                  2) WC Ikola. Some had nice full yellow bars, but some didn't.

                  3) WC RRs. The colors was weak. Maybe they need to settle in but from what I saw I was not WOWED.

                  4) WC Ilangi.  I question whether they are truly WC. The body shape of the head is higher than normal. My 3 month old ilangis had more color than them.

There were others....I didn't care too much about them so I didn't get a super good look at them.

p.s. no petro    and that's why I went......

I went yesterday and agree on most counts:

                    1. Bulu Points - Yes

                    2. Ikola - Yes

                    3. Red Rainbows - 50/50.. There are still a few good ones left. Look for the 6 to 8 that had nice pastel blue shades in their pelvic fins. Those are the ones I think will color up nicely & the only ones I would buy.

                    4. Illangi - I'm still on the fence on this one. I think the size and shapes are fine. To me, that is what WC's are going to look like. They are not coloring up like I thought they would have, but that could be the fish store's fault. He only feeds them NLS once a day.

Regarding the RR,  they should color up more than they are now when provided good water conditions and a bigger tank to swim in, but I didn't see the blue/red in their dorsal fins (which is what I love most about them).

Regarding the illangi, he might treat them well at the store (by giving them good food and what not) but the question is: what happened to them when they were at burundi farms?  I studied the face structure of the fishes. I can think of 3 things:

                      1) The fish's facual stucture is deformed via genetics.
                      2) The fish has not been eating well and the bone is showing where there should be a layer of fat.
                      3) The fish are not WC and have not been grazing on algae which leads to a lack of development in the face muscle.

All this is just IMO and by no means am I an expert.

Did you see the two with spinal deformities?

Again Jeebus I am not knocking your boy Truong but there are at least 2 Ilangi's with deformities and like MJ stated, odd facial structure on some of the others.
I Liked the Bulu's as stated long time ago and really think those came out really nice!
No comment on the rest of the stock though.

Yeah, something has to be wrong with those ilangis.

And I agree with you regarding Truong. It's not like he cause them to be that way. But if something is pond raised you shouldn't call it WC. Maybe he got lied to....who knows.

Are you insinuating that pond-raised fish are typically unhealthy?

+1 he is a decent guy.

And for the record, he does have a relatively nice freshwater non-planted fish store. Most other fish store's fresh water section is weak...except Ultimate of course.
