I just stop by this place before Fish Land today. The guy doesn't seem very nice over the phone when I was asking him some questions. I gave him the benefit of the doubt because he probably had a rough day. Everyone does right. Well when I called to check up if he had some fish in stock some old man pick up. I think they were arguing at the shop because I heard them scream back and forth. I'm thinking its the store owner dad or uncle. All I said was hello did you have this particular fish in stock yet because you told me to call and check on this particular day. The old man didn't know what I was talking about. So I spoke to him in Vietnamese instead. He just gave the phone to I'm guessing the store owner. So I ask him about it and he raise his tone and said I got it in an fob accent and hung up on me. I figure he was really busy, so I stop by the next day which is today. I look around for about 2 min then that old guy was yelling at either his wife or the worker there. I just went out without buying anything.

Troung is always pleasant and the younger Asian lady is always helpful. Try talking to them next time.

Hmm. I'd like to defend my Viet fob people here. They risked their lives getting here for a brighter future for their kids. They are tremendously hard working people who sacrificed all their time working years without taking a day off, 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, sometimes working in a hazardous environment and just for what??? So that their kids are not exposed to the slump, go to a nice school, graduate from college, able to afford nice things and finally, living the American dream. This new generation now has a chance of becoming lawyers, doctors, engineers, etc. Yeah, even though they don't speak English well, how many kids in US have this kind of opportunity? Think about that the next time you buy your new wc colony or Vortech!

I admit it, I need to chill. Everyone here is just having fun. Just thought I’d put a different perspective on fob.

Gotta agree with bicnvu....The whole family is in the game just trying to get ahead like the rest of us. The atmosphere is a little wild some of the time but so is most LFS' I have been to. Truong pulls as many unusual FW fish as anyone in town--look forward to getting Mike back in the game on rarities. I have dropped a chunk of change in there so he makes time for me everytime. Occasionally he loses his patience when someone goes in a huundred times and asks him a million questions and still hasn't spent a dime. Most of the other guys around time don't act too differently if you havent't contributed a dime to their bottom line.

Ummm I was just stated my opinion. I didn't put down his business, just think he should run his business a little better. My brother buys flowerhorn food there all the time. Its the best place for the food. Goes in hundred of times? My brother is the only one that goes there. I call a total of 3 calls. The other times he didn't pick up at all. Been in that shop maybe a total of 4 times, with 2 including my brother and nephew. The owner always told me to get back to him on a certain date which I did. SO I don't think 3 calls is that many. I don't think he has the patience as other owners. I remember back when I went to Sunny all the time without buying stuff at some visit and Mike was nice and receptive to questions. So were the owners at aquarium world, city pets, fishland, and the one on antoine which I visit way back then. All of them answer all my questions all the time with me just going in buying a few feeders for my fish or sometime buying nothing. I stop by those place frequently because I know they would answer my questions. I just don't think yelling back and forth over the phone is a great idea when your talking to a customer. I also don't think its right to tell a customer to call back and check on to see if a certain fish has arrive. Once the customer call you just answer in a rude tone and hang up on the person. Lol I said one thing about an fob accent and its like im bashing fob people. Come on now. This is a place for customer feedback which I gave my feedback on. As for trying to take care of family. I think most of the pet store are open to get money to take care of their family.

Without sounding crude....yes....if you speak better English, we are able to understand each other and consequently you are able to fix my problem. I'm not saying that people who speak, for lack of a better word, poor English are dumb or any less capable of running a business, but I understand the frustration when you go into a business and nobody can help you because you dont understand each other.

I think you should give Xtreme another chance. I'm sure that it was just a hectic day and tempers were high...something we've all experienced at one point or another.

You know, I learned the phrase FOB from other Asian people. Xtreme isn't that bad of an LFS. It is hit or miss anytime you go in there though. There have been days I've gone in there and dropped 100-200 bucks at a time and days I walked out spending nothing. I've said it before though and I'll say it again, he does have the best selection of oddballs and monsters in town.

You guys are right though he do have some unique fish I never seen before. I seen a datnoid or what may look like like at his store. First time I seen it in person. I only seen videos of them on youtube and arowana forum. They look so majestic. I've also seen some huge puffer at his place. Never seen a freshwater puffer so huge.

when you call ask for truong, he will help you and he will try get the fish you want and let him know the problem, he will fix it. i alway talk to him ...

Fresh of the boat?????....we came to America by airplane, duh!!! It's FOP! ..Vietnam is too dang far from America for us to make some homemade boats to cross the pacific ocean.
