Re: store name in near conroe

haven't been in a couple years  though it's closeby.       no luck w/ live purchases.       only thing I purchased that lived was the driftwood!!
as a plus have to say thier $ on "big" pieces of rock & driftwood was fair & good selection for those looking for an eyecatcher.
fish seem to fail in about 60 days??    friend in salt & myself kept track on our live purchases and it held true for both.   so needless to say - we travel or go online.   can't really explain?     things may be different now -

I live close to Fish-r-us and have been in there a few times. As much as I love cool fish that you can't buy at petco/smart I won't go back. I'm not comfortable taking my kids in there in the first place because for a while they were selling questionable apparel and have heard them use foul language when I was there. Their tanks are sometimes dirty, they have dyed and tatooed fish. One of the guys, I'm pretty sure he's the owner, is creepy. My friend and I joke about him because she lives within walking distance of his place. Her kids caught a 3 legged frog and begged her to take it in there to see if he knew any thing about it and to buy some stuff for it. He said it was just a frog and he wouldn't waste his time on it. Her kids were crushed and one of them cried. It's just my opinion, but how you treat the smallest of people is really the best judgement of what kind of customer service you have. We have to have some one to pass the hobby on to. Enough with the soap box. Some one really needs to open a fish store in this area.

I've been in a few times,  I usually look around for  a while before anyone asks if I need any help, which I dont mind, I like to look around the store and see everything.

Their Goldfish and Koi usually seem to consistently be in good shape, altho it seems that a lot of the other areas seem to vary...

I was in just the other day and didn't see any painted or tatood fish... but I wasnt looking specifically for them.

The main thing I dont care for is the no livestock garuntee...  thats why the only thing I've bought there are marimo balls...

I was disappointed at FRU too, for a few reasons, but I won't go into all the details, suffice it to say that they would not offer any discounts for anything. I wanted to buy about 15 fish and some accessories last time I was there, but they would not even give me one dollar off of anything ....I bought 3 fish and left.

It's a nice clean store, and there are some nice people there...but that's all I am going to say.

Re: store name in near conroe

              Hello everyone.

We (my wife & I) were visiting a friend who lives off of 242 two weeks ago and decided to swing by there before heading home, hoping to find something to bring home with us.

Well, we got there 15 minutes before they closed around 5:45pm. We were quickly greeted by a very rude teenage girl who asked (and this is not paraphrased, but a direct quote): "Are you planning on buying anything?" We replied that we didn't know, but we wanted to take a look. She responded with: "Well, we close in 15 minutes, just so you know." We thanked her and made our way to the back where the freshwater fish were.

2 minutes hadn't passed and they began turning the lights off to the tanks - starting with the ones we were looking at first! It wasn't even 10 'til 6pm yet. We took the hint and left. I can say with 100% certainty that we will not be returning, and from what I could see of their tanks (before the lights were turned off) that they were not that impressive.

A singular bad experience? Perhaps, but it seems by others in this thread that we weren't alone. Don't employ teenagers that don't care about the fish they tend and sell.

Have you noticed there always seems to be an attractive young girl working there that doesn't know much about fish... I'm just sayin.
