I mean no disrespect to whomever that might be, but this was how I found the store today:

I can only judge based on how everyone described it when Charles was there (as I had never been there before today), but the store is in horrible shape. ALL, yes ALL the tanks were filthy, the fish looked miserable, and the store was just dirty. I mean no disrespect to the current owners, but I can not give you an endorsement to anyone to shop there after what I saw today.

Worst of all was that the staff seemed not the least bit concerned with the condition of their store. EVERY fish store I've went into in Houston, no matter the time of day or day of the week, I can 100% always find someone cleaning a tank, or changing water, or doing something constructive to the health and up-keep of the store. This was visibly absent today.

It was shameful to say the least.

I was at the store today too.  Right now Mike is in the middle of a major overhaul of the store, and for some reason, has been uber short staffed.  Often there are 3 people working there, the last several times I have been in, twice there was only Mike, and the other time it was Mike and one other worker.  He is in the middle of moving all of the tanks from one room to another, and it is taking up a lot of his time.

Honestly Fish Ranch II has a much higher rating in my book than some other fish stores that leave dead fish in the tanks for days, and who don't take care of them at all.  Trust me, Mike is working his tail off these days.

I get all my fish from this place. im there at least once a week even if i dont buy anything and everytime i go in some one is cleaning the tanks out. he is remodeling so its kinda hard to keep it looking like petsmart. he changed some tile out and i think he mentioned a new store opening somewhere so he is trying to move alot of stuff. if you are into cichlids this is the place to go to in the SW area.

Yeah they are going through some changes and with how the world is going I think they are doing quite well.

Mike brought in some really awesome tetras/rainbows/rasboras/etc. and decently priced! There are tanks full of Badis badis and scarlet badis.

I'm usually in there every other day before work but lately work has been super busy.

            I absolutly love this store!
i usually go there atleast once a week, but its a been a few weeks since i've been last, due to limited cash flow:(
i need to stop by this weekend.
imo, they have one of the best selections of SA/CA cichlids in all of H-Town, very resonably priced to.
has anybody seen any geophagus or gymnogeophagus there latley?
