    Re: Oct. swap n sell

Daisy, don't feel bad, I've been trying to make it to one of the Swaps since they started and haven't made it yet.  My reasons are different from yours but I feel confident I will make it someday.

Well, Szid, maybe we can make it a goal to get to one sooner or later!

I work retail so I have to work every time there is a function and most of the events are on the weekend so I’ll get in a lot of trouble if I call in sick

Sounds like a plan.  Maybe we could try to drive out together once I get through working out of town.  Would that be acceptable to hubby?

Sounds like a plan! He should be okay with that as long as he meets you first. Of course if you have a bone through your nose we could have a problem!

Curtis, when in town for the auction, if you get a chance give me a shout at 281-851-3368. I would love to show you my setup as well as discus obtaining some of your apistos and shellies. If you get in early enough Sunday morning maybe you can make it over before the auction starts.

                          Re: Oct. swap n sell

I'm quickly becoming overloaded with Italian Vals. If there's any interest, I'll bring a lot of them out.
                          75gal heavy planted tank
                          pea gravel on soil substrate
                          DIY CO2
3 zebra botias, 9 glowlights, 2 yoyo loachs, wild guppies

                          55gal planted
                          same substrate
                          DIY CO2
1 gold, 1 zebra, 4 koi, 2 dark zebra angels, ghost & amano shrimp

Dumb question from a plant beginner.  What's the difference between vals.  I know the obvious with the corkscrews, but what makes an Italian val different from non-Italian, height, width of leaves?

                              Re: Oct. swap n sell

From my experience, the main difference between italian val and "giant val" or "jungle val" is the width of the leaves moreso than anything else. They also tend to be a bit thicker. Both grow taller than most aquariums, and the shade of green depends more on the parameters of each individual tank than anything else.
