Some people like "bland" fish. I kept minnows in my aquarium before. I liked them. Why don't I have them anymore? They were a casualty of the power outage during Hurricane Ike. BTW, I have seen native rainbow dace before trying to be passed off as exotic barbs or danios in the past in some LFS.PLECOS SUCK!

So it looks like freshwater other than Lake Houston won. So Raul do you have the special spot or does someone have a good spot to go to?

there really are lots of lakes and places around town. the main thing is to find one with lots of variety. sorry i haven't chimed in at all lately, have been super busy with family stuff but that seems to be almost over now. i have a lot of thing to plan in the next few weeks and also we have the auction coming up. chances are i wont be able to go on the collection trip since it will be a Saturday or a Sunday, and i work both days right now, but i am really really trying to correct that. oh and Brian i understand the consequences of hesitating on an answer like that, sorry for the backlash.Never fear I is here

Moderation !!!
ok sorry for being naive but some people have no idea about this. and perhaps theyd go n help if they knew whats up....
what is this collection about, what will be going on
and im gonna assume there will be some sort of items required, or is a LFS gonna supply the needed items.
another dumb question that might need to be answered
if we are to splash around in a lake, in our rubber duckies.
one hand holding the bucket, and another with a net to catch our new free fishees
Isnt That a Form Of Fishing ? and is there some law prohibiting collection of fish with nets or what.
is a fishing or netting liscense required.
again , will everyone just meet up somewhere and then jog to the desired fish collection place? collect fish then go home.
IS THERE A THREAD WITH ALL THESE DETAILS ALREADY?
Im interested in assisting, but id like to know the rules and regulations that will be followed or broken, by doing this.
free fish dont seem as fun if ya gotta pay a fine.

Don't have all the details ironed out, but yes, a fishing license is required. Only non-game fish can be legally collected, so you should not be taking bass or crappie, unless you catching it with a hook within legal limits. Here's a page that may provide some useful info:
I would hope that for the most part, this would be a collective effort, with people sharing their catch, so everyone can come home with something they'd like to keep. More details as they become available.PLECOS SUCK!

Who has a good place at Lake Houston? I was going to get a place together when the non-Lake Houston vote was winning.
