I think Alexander Deussen Park at Lake Houston would be a great place for our collection trip. There is plenty of parking, lots of shaded areas for our solar sensitive members, picnic tables, and areas where someone can place a portable grill. Dogs are allowed if kept on a leash and kept at your side.
If you have kids, there is a playground with swings. There is a narrow waterway close to the parking lot that feeds into the lake that is LOADED with fish, including least killisfish. Golden killifish, gambusia, shiners, sunfish and others.
I think Darbex suggested Sunday June 14. What time should we get there?PLECOS SUCK!

I would say 9 - 10 unless everyone wants a different time. We can have a little cook out at the same time. If anyone has a truck I can bring my grill.

NASH has been here a few times, great place. Realy family friendly with lots of playgrounds and even a Bison pen. Good collecting, I know that last time we were there we collected lots of pygmy sunfish.
This will be on Sunday June 14th?Houston Areas Aquatic Plant Society

How about a third invite? From an officer??We would be proud to have NASH join us, and I think I can safely say that without even conferring with the other officers beforehand. :)
I will get in contact with the other officers so we can make this trip "official." Thanks to everyone for working this hard so far to get this trip going. It is MUCH appreciated. And with our new native section here on HFB, I think we can go a long way to alerting people what gorgeous plants and fish can be found in our own waterways. They're not just bait anymore! :)"Millennium hand and shrimp!"

Can we legally collect both fish AND plants at this park? I just took a look at the park's rules. Although I did read a thread on APC today about collecting plants in this area.PLECOS SUCK!
