June 16th fish swap and anual BBQ

    Will people only be swapping cichlids for this event?  I have never been to a fish swap so could more be provided on the ongoings of this type of event?

      It's pretty much an anything goes type of deal. Cichlids are the predominant species traded, but by no means the only species. Everything from mollies and guppies, to plants and anything in between.
      For example, I will be offering up some Labs, Demasoni, Angels, Frontosa, and Pleco's as well as filters, pumps, lights, and whatever else I see that is cluttering the fish room. You never know what you will find at one of these, but you can be sure there will always be plants. That seems to be the hot ticket item at these events.
      Consider my posts as general information based on personal experiences, and in most cases, far oversimplified. Actual mileage may vary. Don't try this at home. If symptoms persist, contact your physician.

        Cichlid Fan....you must not leave the house much for $200 in gas per month.  I spend that in about two weeks.  We can pool some gas money together if you really want to come out....LOL.

          Hanson - I thought that at first, too, but you just click on the map and it takes you to another page with his location. Not that it matters now, but sorry for the confusion!

            Where are you coming from CF?  Maybe one of use is close to you and could car ride with someone.

              That's the problem, I don't believe there are members close to me who are interested in going. I live in NorthWest houston, heading out towards tomball. My cross streets would be Eldridge and Grant.

              It really boils down to priorities, as much as I would like to go to this BBQ and meet you all, I really want to go fishing this weekend if the weather permits. Fishlady and I, used to go fishing every weekend, but again the cost of gas has made it necessary for us to cut back on that as well. It cost a ton to drag a Ranger around...

              I wouldn't mind driving over to crosby and meeting you all and having some good food and chat, but if you can relate, Fishlady and I are "jonesin" for some time on the water. There's a good chance we can make it in July...providing gas isn't 4.00 a gallon by then.....

              Thanks for your kind offers to assist, and I/we, really do look forward to making it out there soon.

                Totally understandable.  But doesn't fishing present somewhat of a conflict of interest...LOL.  Are you a catch and release kinda guy or is fish prepared in any sort of manner one of your favorite delicacies like myself???

                  Yeah, we are strictly catch and release, we never intend to harm the fish, only their ego's a bit. We take pictures of them and toss them back for someone else to catch again some other day. I've got to update that site too with pics of my new tanks and fish sometime soon as well. I've got so many home improvement projects and errands to run on the weekends, it just so hard to do everything I would like to do.  I'm looking forward to the one in July if there is one...
