Also i think a due-paying club should have access to all the financial data. SO that there arent any club financed parties that members arent aware of.

Maybe I should start over.
My experience in HAS, HLA, and TAKO has been postive. In these last 2 years that I have belonged to these groups, I have had a great time. I may not able to go to all the meetings or functions or run for office for any of these organizations, but I enjoy being a member. These groups seem to compliment each other, rather than cause friction and I have made several good friends at each group. I really dislike the friction I am seeing now. I wish I could devote more time to HLA and HAS, but my work shedule conflicts. If I had the time to devote to make a difference I would. As it is, I am proud to belong to HAS, HLA and TAKO, and their ability to coexist without turmoil should be an example to other groups that may form. There's my two cents.

Okay, now the inflammatory responses are just getting plain silly. Why, if you are not a member of HAS are you so darn concerned about their financial data? If you are a member I'm sure any of your concerns would be set to rest if you would only ask.

Szidlon is right. Everyone take a deep breath, have a cold drink. All of this is making it not fun for the new club forming and for HAS. We all have our opinions about this, are any of them right or wrong...doesn't matter.

We are all here because we like or should I say we all love our Hobby, our passion. It is great to be involved with others who feel the same way. Pick the club that better suits you. Let your actions speak.

I would like to see all the clubs co-existing in harmony...not competition. After GHAC is established enough, maybe once a year or every other year we could all meet together and just have fun.

Please continue to comment you opinion of the starting of GHAC. That's what the thread is for. Lets try to play nice, I know I can get caught in the moment too.

I have no problem with the pride you have in the club you are a member of and think that its a good thing to have if not there wouldn't be much of a club. I myself pride in being a member of this great community we have here as well as pride in a friend and LFS that has catered to the community of HFB'ers so your comment felt really negative about the "over heated LFS. I give respect as I would like the same and see you as a representitive of HAS or the "voice of" at HFB so I am sorry if I expected more from you.

IMO as a rep I would have posted that you were made aware of the problem and contacted Fishlady privately as you stated she should have done......but instead you come on here in full defense mode instead of "lets remedy this" mode which I would have expected from a rep. In a way you can say I look up to you and I don't know who you are other then a member of a club that is here to further expand the hobby I love, I feel the same way about any person who has "taken it to the next level" like Mike, Scott, Ken, Max and not excluding the people over at MArsh,NASH and tropheusanatics.

Also from your replies it felt really negative especially towards the "idea" of a new club forming or rather yet the expansion of an already existing club. I know HAS was not an overnight success and they didn't have all the memebers they have today from the get go so this club has to start like every other.

I personally am a member of a few clubs which all share the same interest.......aquatics. I see it as this, the more interest or clubs there are the more this hobby will grow or expand so it only gets better. You basically stated forming new/multiple clubs was a waste of time and it would be best to just join HAS, which is IMO saying its either HAS or nothing. I myself planned on joining HAS and for more reasons then just the auctions and I see the reasoning behind the percentage taken from sales which is great since all the activities and guest speakers don't fund themselves and it looks better then having members pull money out of pocket.

If I'm not mistaken I seen a few members of HAS at the HLA auction so I'm sure everyone doesn't feel that HAS should be the only club.

In no way is this post meant to attack anyone or belittle anyone but sometimes things drag on too far (like this thread).

Dave I much look forward to meeting you as I did with everyone else and look forward to the next HAS gathering and will do my best to attend and become a part of.

It was 2 HAS members that brought up HAS in this thread, i dont know why they didnt just keep they fingers still.

Well, the bunny is living in the tank until I can test the tank, clean it (yes in that order), get a filter, get a hood or a glass top for my 55, get gravel or sand for the bottom, and um.... that's about it ;-) It's a great size for the poor little girl. I took her to school and the kids are so proud of themselves for wanting it HA!

Right now... I have (at home) a 2.5 and a 5.5 set for quarantine if needed, a 10 with guppies and a clown loach, a 20 with the angels (waiting on the other 55 ;-)), the 55 with the mystery fry, and 2 other 20's that are cycling. THEN.. at school, I have 2 10's with three different types of fry, and a 30 with hybrid fry. So... with the 75, I have a total of 11 tanks... soon to be 12 (the 55 for my Angels)... THEN, I'm done. Now I just have to sort my fish

I am not HAS. I do, however, do a lot of the post auction paperwork because I have experience at it. Again, an invitation: Come help me if you'd like. And the title of the thread invited comments. I didn't realize that it only invited comments that you approve. So tell me...why do you have such an axe to grind? I have offered the financial data. Now you want to see it in private? I know you don't understand the amounts of money that we're talking about. I've tried to make it available. That you would insinuate that the money would be used in an inappropriate way is, frankly, insulting. Not just to me, but to everyone who participates in HAS sponored or funded events. We don't do things in secret. But I'll tell you what...I don't know your name or if you're a member...but contact me and I'll pay for your membership out of my own pocket. That way you can be certain that none of your money will be used for illicit or unauthorized purposes. Put up or...you know the rest.

I'd just like to say that The BettaHabari has a betta auction after every show.
If it wasn't for the money we make off of the auction, we wouldn't be able to host the show.
Of course if everyone that worked at our show & auction got minimum wage jobs, we would make a lot more money 8O
But we enjoy the company we keep.
You don't have to be a phish phreek but it helps.....
