Jesper, would have been heading over towards Mike's already but I just got a phone call and have to head to the work place for a little bit......hopefully my stealthy ways will get me there and back without much traffic.....

good luck, i dont think the big digornos will fit in a microwave, or cook well there, guess i eat before coming, maybe bring chips and salsa who knows. either way i gotta go get the plants and everything together for the raffle and so on and so forth.

Hello everyone.  

I'm still here at Mike's with about 20 others having a great time.  We had 30+ in attendance and everyone injoyed the Raffle!  

We hope to see those who missed it next time.  

I will be posing pics tonight.  

Especially of lovely Megan.  She was alot of help tonight along with her Mother, Justdoit and Loopy.

yes indeed....it was a great sucess....thanks to virginia, megan, loopy....mike.....and all that donated all of the wonderful things for the raffle and mini auction....everyone who came to support the kick off of our great club tonight.....this is just fantastic that all of you came out....we had a great time ......thanks again to all of you.....

I thought tonights meeting was much more comfortable that's for sure. The weather was much nicer, and the added raffle made things pretty exciting too, but with that said, let me get this out of my system.

I have to say, I am a bit disappointed in the way the first inaguaral GHAC meeting was conducted. I felt the opening announcements where very mondain and lifeless. I was hoping to hear some excitement and enthusiasm about the "launching" of the new club and maybe just a hint of what being a club member would entitle us members too, and or maybe something about future goals and plans for the new club.

Maybe I was expecting too much due to the sucess and excitement of the last meeting that was held at Mike's?

Anyway, I hope that my comments are not the beginning of some major issue, but I have to hope that we can reclaim some of the excitement and enthusiasm we experienced back in August, and hopefully begin to funtion just a bit more like a legitimate club.  

Overall, I had a great time and look forward to the next meeting. I'm sure being a new club we're all learning as we go.....

Are they always going to be held on Fridays??  I sure hope me and imaguygeek can make it to some meetings, but it's impossible for us to make it from work to home to 1960 in Friday traffic by 7pm.  I might have to set up a webcam or something at Mike's if they are always on Fridays...so at least we can 'kind of' be there!  So sad we missed it....

I thought for the most part it went really well.

I agree with CF on the meeting part, needed more to make it feel like a newly established club.

Well everyone, the first meeting of the GHAC was an overall success!  

I want to recognize Mike (the Man) for being a sponser and hosting GHAC at his establishment!  Mike donated some nice items to Raffle which was a big hit.

Next I want to say thank you to Loopy, Justdoit(Virginia) and her daughter Megan for the fantastic job they did managing the Raffle.  Your time and efforts have not gone un-noticed and you all are so appreciated.  We can't say thank you enough.

Thank you to everyone that came and shared in this piece of history.  Without you there wouldn't be a GHAC.  You are GHAC!

FYI - Something we didn't mention at the meeting, we are looking for an individual that would be interested in publishing the GHAC Newsletter.  This would be in an electronic format to be emailed to members.  This is a voluntary position and details be will covered at the next meeting.  Please submit your name to me via a PM or Email if you are interested and if we have more than one volunteer, the officers will make a decision.


Now, I'll admit, there was room for improvement from the officers at the meeting.  All of us want GHAC to have a good start and foundation and for the most part I think this was accomplished last night.  GHAC has a great future to offer it's members.  We hope to see everyone again next month, tentatively November 16th, 2007 at 7:30pm.  You will definetely see an improvement.

Did anyone bring kids to the meeting?  I don't know if these are kid-friendly events or not, that's why I'm asking.  Also because the next meeting, if on 11-16, will fall on our weekend with the kids.  We REALLY want to come out!

Yes, for the most part it is a kids friendly environment. There are a members that bring their kids. We even had one young man contimplate signing up for a membership, but I think he forgot his allowance..??  :)

There is some alcohol around, but I will say, everyone does a pretty good job about being civil and responsible with their use of language. I'm not a drinker myself, but am still very comfortable with those members who where drinking.

Great!  If other's are bringing their kids, they'd have some social time while we did fishgeek stuff!  It's a win-win.  Okay, done.  We are so there next month!

Virginia(Justdoit), brought her daughter Megan.  She is 13.

Cesar brought his family, wife and 3 kids.  Oldest was maybe 10 or so.  

We ask that alcohol not be consumed till after the meeting is over and that people drink responsibly.  If you are ok with a handful of people having a beer or two and smoking, then its ok for kids.  Keep in mind the later hours, like after 11pm,  it might not be ideal for children.   Mike usually kicks us out around 2 am.

You should come.  We were talking last night that those in attendance account for over 43% of all posts on HFB since it started.  Something like 13 of the top 25 posters were present and then we had two that are out of town.  

Its a little mind boggling to think about it.
