Thanks for the warm welcome and all the nice and helpful comments!

I had it custom made through Acantho.be (out of business now). It was W160cm x H40cm x D50cm out of 10mm thick glass (overkill, but I'm completely paranoid about a tank failure)

Many nice places to hang out and lots of sporting venues like football, boxing, mma and even racing if you like that.

We've gone out to have dinner but haven't done much to socialize yet. We plan on going to a haunted house sometime this week though :) I do like racing but it's near impossible to get any Formula 1 coverage online and we don't have TV yet :( At some point I'd like to see an ice hockey game (I played NHL videogames ever since I was a kid, so time to experience it IRL for a change) :)

The heat and humidity don't bother me that much, keep in mind that I've spent the last 30+ years in Belgium so it's a nice change! It has so much rain that I feel "rain" should be renamed to "Belgian liquid" eg. "It's leaking Belgian liquids again!' of course, that could probably be a reference to beer and might be confusing :)

Where are you from Frankie? Hope your visa paperwork went smoother than ours! :)

Welcome to the box and Houston! I love the tank you had setup before. A beauty indeed. I think you'll thoroughly enjoy the access to so many variants of cichlids, etc here in Houston. It's a buyer's market especially here on the box. If you are looking for livestock and good used filters, you should always start here on the box. There's a plethora of articles on Tropheus and Petrochromis in this section that will help you understand more the behavioral tendencies that have been witnessed in the wild and in local hobbyists tanks. I'm sure you can share some of your experiences with us as to how things were done back home for you. We don't often get too many people from overseas move here, so it's pretty exciting for me. Lol. Welcome again.

          Thats awesome Maarten.
Im from Puerto Rico so no Paperwork but know how it feels to move around.
I used to live in a few places in the states and know how it feels but Houston is my home away from home.
          Formula racing aye..
My older bro and friends will be racing this weekend at Baytown - 1/2 mile track.
Im fond of all types of racing but I like course racing.
I will pm you a sight for you sports requests, etc... just in case you have a laptop or pc.
Great places to eat and relax in the Montrose - Midtown - Downtown areas and Houston do have lots of "Belgium Liquids" micro brewery's.
There is a Micro Brew close to were you are located.
Most are kid friendly environments and cheap with different styles and type of beers.
Rain; we could use a bit more but I am biased since I come from a Rain Forest Island environment.
Enjoy your stay and try not to work too hard.

Hey welcome to Houston thats a really nice tank you had setup. unfortunately the closest NHL team to houston is the Stars up in dallas but we do have the aero's and they are pretty good. No formula 1 racing either but the indy racing league is scheduled to come to Houston next Year in the spring I believe but could be wrong

Maybe it'll get more coverage with the Austin and New York grand prix on next years calendar. I might have to get into either Indycar or Nascar for the time being :)

Thank for all the nice comments on my old tank.

Time to start thinking about your new big tank Maarten.

Btw, check out the motorsport ranch in Angleton, TX.

The premier road course and karting facility in Texas. A driver's track where the racer and the motorsports enthusiast can come to experience the excitement of driving in a controlled environment.
