I feel no resentment for a retail outlet which has high prices; it's a retail biz, walkins pay the price for convenience and instant gratification.
I never give the small triple-price grocery stores grief for their prices, if I need a better deal I slog to Wally World or whatever. Same for a fish store; they got high overhead and make it from specialty sales and level 1 "walkin" customers.
We as breeders and club members (level 2 or 3) know sources to get what we want cheaper and better...we put in the time and effort. So we need less from retail outlets.
But if I want something now, and I don't know who has what I want for breeder price, I go to a good store and pay whatever they ask.
I have been to FRII many times when Charles or the other guy had just finished the Death Patrol and had a bunch of dead fish...a few minutes earlier and the floaters woulda been in the tanks. Nothing changed as to the quality of fish or display, just a matter of timing.
I have been a FG customer, but as time goes on I get less from retail outlets and more online and from other HFB members.
If they ever got more Sailfins of the quality I got there 9 months ago, I'd pay whatever the price was, gladly.
