I am very excited about this collection trip and meeting. I will be coming back into town that morning so i may miss the initial meet up (will do my best to get home by noon, but my house will be fully up and running by the time we are done collecting. Kids are always welcome at meetings and at my house. Roy I amd surprised that you forgot to mention gambusia (mosquito fish) a smaller live bearer that is similar in apearance to guppies, maybe not the most attractive in looks but a hardy fish none the less.
I will have the grill cleaned up and ready, there is some seating outside, but feel free to bring a camp chair if your worried about that. I am making my famous party punch too.

There are soo many interesting smaller fish species in our waters that adapt to captivity (especially in planted tanks) and they can really give some of the exotics we see a run for their money.

Thanks for remembering those David! I get all scatter brained LOL. I saw back in the seventies they developed a mottled color variant from our Gambusia, but it just never took off. I bet that would be a fun pond project for the summer. Looking forward to it and stoked to see what new stuff we find on the West Side!

I was scouting a little today and found a few areas off of Fry that had easy parking access to some of the larger bayue structures. as in the easy to walk down cement sided ones. There looks to be plenty of aquatic vegetation and easy access to the water. I have seen some other drainages but they were much steeper and would be harder to collect from. I will be expanding my search in the next few weeks and making sure that there is parking near the collection points.

There is a creek that runs across hwy6 at west Little York. on the east side of 6 there is a driveway that runs right up to the creek. there is a place to park but I'm not sure the water may be to deep there.
The place on Fry, ( If it's the place I'm thinking) Looks like a good spot. But a lot of others even the small lake on the south side of I10 off hwy6.

Well I picked up a goodly some of food for the meeting after the collecting. I got a few packs of brawts. A couple of packs of hotdogs for picky kids. Six pounds of beef for burger's. Lots of chips and Queso as well. Also a few packs of boudain. For an appetizer. I did grab everything for the party punch. Roy is grabbing the rest of required food riding's but if anyone wants to bring something to grill, or a vegetable. That would be fine. Also couldbuse some sodas or non alcholholic beverages getting excited
