Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?

I don't know what kind, but I'm sure we will be able to see them before we buy them. I got a preview, and there are going to be lots of pictures in his presentation.

Re: An Introduction to Killifish Presentation

I had a great time! Thanks once again to Doug Ebeling for the informative presentation on the many types on killifish. I'm gonna to have to look into those lampeyes more... Doug was kind enough to bring some of his killies to the presentation for an auction. I bid on some Fundulopanchax gardneri, but got outbid...

I did wind up with a pair of Nothobranchius foerschi though

...They are in a temporaray setup until I create something a bit more ideal...

Re: An Introduction to Killifish Presentation

yeah those gardneri are doing quite well, as well as another pair of the type that Tim got. also the clown killis i got are doing abolutely great. all 3 ate frozen cyclops this evening, and i am hatching fress baby brine for them as well. will see if they will take flake another day to make sure i round out their diet. i took the small tank idea to heart. the clown killis are in a 5 hex, and i got a 2.5 gallon for each pair of the other killis i aquired. tey each have their own airline running o them and lots of java moss, and a few other plant bits. they seemed really excited when they got the frozen cyclops. i cant wait to see what they can do. Oh on another note the presentation was AMAZING. I love learning about new things (especially fish related). the pictures were great and the fish that were bought for the auction were and are super cool. I keep picturing different places t put 2-5 gallon tanks all over my apartment. I am thinking that the computer desk needs a tank or two. i know the buffet table will get 2 or more when i get it setup . And thanks again ADG for letting us use your space for the good of the hobby. I think its just great to see different clubs coming together to share knowledge and their passion for the hobby in general.

Re: An Introduction to Killifish Presentation

well i have some bad news from this morning. my young gardneri decided they wanted to explore outside of their aquarium. still not sure how they found a spot since i used a glass top on the 2.5. the only space for them to escape was less then 1/4 inch of gap. so they are crafty. guess next time i try them i will leave more room between water and lid. i found the male all crispy and dry, still cant find the female. But i will not be discuraged. i still want to try them, maybe i can get another pair soon (after i create more space between my waterline and my lid).

Sorry to hear about the loss.  Ours is in a 1 gallon tank with the water level about 1 1/2" from the top rim.

Re: An Introduction to Killifish Presentation

Killies are BAD about finding the smallest gap in the cover/hood to jump out of. I know Doug keeps many of his in those plastic critter keepers with the snap on covers. They should NEVER be placed in open topped aquaruia.

Was NOT in an open top aquarium. had a glass top. the only gap was where the air line was going into the aquarium. they just found it. also the weird thing to me is that both of them got out the same night. like romeo and juliet style. weird. and for soem reason my email to doug didnt get through. guess i will have to find another way to contact him.
