Kris post speaks on what I deemed a poor excuse of a fish store. If someone walk in they should be greeted and not avoided like the plaque. So why are they a sponsor when we have other stores in the city?

Maybe because they are the only store that will sponsor the club?

I have noticed that a lot of the other LFS don't bother since their money comes from "their" repeat customers and are not fully aware of the whole local club thing.

I choose to patronize the stores baised on convience or because they provide something the othes don't.
If I need an inexpencive item, I will go to the closest store or the one that is on my route to & from home.
But when I'm window shopping, I go to the store that has the best merchandice, the best prices or the best service.
Of course, when they offer a discount, that moves them up on the list of best prices, but without good merchandide or service, I choose to

I have been in touch with other stores...not all of them yet but getting there.

Some LFS will not sponsor or should I say are heistant to sponsor a club becasue of bad experiences in the past.  Others just can't afford to be a sponsor.  Being a Sponsor isn't just letting a club have a discount.  They help a financially to some extent.  Some can help more than others but any help to a club it great.

Has anyone thought of talking to management or emailing them about areas that need improvement?  Contstructive criticism can go a long way.  Many of us are customers of theirs and if we speak, its in their best interest to listen.  

Again, I agree that no one should raise their voice to a customer for any reason and I am going to address that with Fish Gallery.  

Again, no one ever said anything about banning anybody.  So chill.

Virginia, Thank you!  Setting up and running a new club takes up alot of personal time, though it is time given freely.  All of the officers have their own lives to deal with and yet find the time to devote to the club.  Many of you have stepped up when asked and continue to do so, but we can always use others.   Ask not what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?   :)

From what I have heard from a friend that worked there, they just don't care.  Now I know this is hearsay - he said she said, but there is so much that business needs to truly be functional.  They have the most rudimentary cash register system - things are freshwater, saltwater, or plant.  No codes or id's for individual breeds, high loss rates due to illness, they will take fish from a customers tank (this was the owner doing this) and dump them, water and all, into a tank with other fish, regardless of what that might do to either fish...

From what i have seen, the only one person is willing to hear about issues, but can't do much about them, and tends to be swamped by customers that trust him.

several of the people who work there are friends with the owner, and are drinking buddies at work.  They keep beer openly in the freezer up front, and I have seen them close the store early (and in my face at one point) to have a party.  And this is just what I have gathered shopping there once or twice a month, and from casual conversation with a friend.

I went to get my MARSH discount the other day and the dude bent my effin card in half.  8O
When I asked "what in the sam **** are you doing", he said he was checking if it was real.

What in the....WORLD is the matter with this place?

What did bending my card have to do with anything? Wow--I'm still in awe.

The look on my face seeing my MARSHREEF card bent in half by a cashier- Priceless.

I'm surprised that he didn't bite my quarters to see if they were real.
Not going back to this place.

As much complaining as I hear about fish gallery from people I dont even know why they offer the discount to us anyway.  We as fish hobbiest should be grateful for this discount at such a great store but all I hear is bad mouthing and bashing of the store and customer service.  Look not everyone who wants to have a job is going to know everything about it.  And jobs get frustrating, and having to tell the same club over and over they need mebership cards gets old fast so I can understand the problem.  The problem lies with our club, getting organized is the key.

Not going to boycott Fish Gallery here.  Never been treated unprofessionally by anyone and I like some
of the fish they have been bringing in lately... and haven't found any other stores carrying these
fish either.  Too bad I wish their was.

Any other stores carrying the dwarf hypancistrus plecos... Maybe L134 or L260?  Please let me know.

here's the way i see it...

Was the store at fault for Nic's treatment....yes of course they where, no employee should scold their customers..period.
Was GHAC responsible for Nic's treament.....yes they where too, the memberships cards should have been in place before requesting discounts from local vendors/retailers.

Can all of this be corrected....OF COURSE it can...Lets' all forgive and forget...and get on with our lives.

I think this thread has gone as far as it needs to go.  

Sticking with the original post by Nick we (GHAC) are handling the issues at hand.

GHAC Discounts at Fish Gallery (Continues)
GHAC Memebership Cards (If they take much longer we will go to another source)
FG customer Service problem (I've talked to Management about this)

Any other issues should be addressed in the appropriate forum, not here.  
I suggest trying to work out your problem with a LFS first before posting and stick to the facts at hand.
