The 10 gal tanks for the kids were a combination of ideas from Ken and Dave. They deserve most of the credit for that. Many thanks to all who bought and/or brought. We can't do it without all of you. Those were very nice guppies, by the way.    How did everyone like the steaks this time?

The kids did a great job, and they really helped keep the auction moving along....thanks to ALL the "runners"..... :)

          Charles, Dave, Prosper or HAS,

Who ever donated the 10 gallon tanks for the kids and the 20 gallon tank and set up for the raffle THANK YOU!!!

I think this is a good way to get the youth into the hobby!  We could always use kids for runners, they can learn something and it is important to volunteer!

Charles and Dave your auctioneer talents were very much appreciated!  It was a good day and the prices went well... I still laugh at the price of the yellow spotted dragon and carton gator going for over $10 each I think!  Impressive prices the nice guppies and angel fish were selling for!  Cory cats were not even cheap this time.  Later, ken

Had a great time!  After the bidding war on those guppies, I'll have to rethink the direction of my breeding operations!

Sounds like I missed a great auction.  I had every intention of going, and tons of stuff to [s:03b36f2858]get rid of er[/s:03b36f2858], bring.  Unfortunately, there was a family emergency and I ended up spending a good chunk of the morning/midday at the hospital instead :(.  Certainly wasn't on my agenda for the day...  All is OK, Dad just gave us a bit of a scare - especially since he just had surgery Monday and with all the different cancers/treatments he's been through, his white and red blood cell count goes a little nuts at times.

My apologies to anyone who was looking forward to any of the items I was going to bring (daphnia, worm cultures, chocolate zebra plecos, medusas, gold nugget plecos, etc....)

*sigh*  Now I have to keep feeding these guys until the next auction....

There were some really nice guppies there, I was even tempted myself on a couple of bags.  I thought the Spanish Dancer guppies were really nice looking, for sure caught my eye.

Those guppys went for big bucks. I was in the bidding war for the dainichi food. Just out of curosity, I left after that. How much did the other 2  5.5 lb bags go for??

I think they went for $1 each...      Man, did you ever leave at the wrong time!

Seriously...not quite as much as the first, but still pretty good money.

I had bid 45.00 on one of those 5.5 bags, but I was not the winning bid, not even close.... :)

Hello all.  I had so much fun at the auction.  I didn't leave unscathed, though.  My wrist is sore from flipping my card up in tha air so many times! And Shane (spyke1969) says his neck hurts from spinning around to ask me what I just bid on repeatedly! LOL  Guess we'll have to bring some ibuprophen to the next auction

We set up two tanks when we got home, one with a variety of fish (tetras, apistagrama, a pair of checkerboard cichlids and some corys) and plants (christmas moss, long leaf anubas, and ratalica) and another one with a big holey rock and three paratilapia marolambas (my first cichlid tank!).  :)

I actually learned alot just by running the items for few hours during the bidding.  It's amazing what you can pick up just by listening.......

I enjoyed meeting all of you, and I look forward to seeing you at the next auction (after I save up some more money- lol).

                            peace,
                            Samantha~

Samantha, please tell me those fish aren't going to have to go through a cycle in your new tank...

I bought some fish at the auction as well...got beat out on the apistos and checkerboards I wanted. I wasn't wild about the stand-in auctioneer. I thought I had high bid on one of the fish I was beat on, and wound up losing because my bid was counted before and I didn't know it. I'd have bid more if I'd known my bid wasn't high bid. <grumble> Oh well, still had fun...right up to the point when we were leaving and Prosper said, "Bye Boo Boo." I had a talk with Shelia about her handing him free ammunition like that.

                                Boo boo (lol),

Ummmmm, well, yes...  They do have to go through a new cycle.  I know it's not ideal, but that is what happened.  We just moved into a new home, and the auction was a bit of an impromptu so we weren't prepared.  But, the good news is that Shane is great with tanks and I have a little experience and we are both keeping our eyes on them.

Sometimes in life we have to do things under less than ideal circumstances and hope for the best :)

I did get the checkerboards.  They are so beautiful, and have some great blue coloring.  I'll try to get photos up soon with pics of the new tanks.
