  • Newly discovered Petrochromis Variant?

Arthur just posted this thread about Toby Veal exporting some new petro.

I think they are pretty nice! Like a combo of Moshi and Red Fin!

Even the rows of teeth look red. That's going to be some nice Petro. I can definately see the banding similarities with bulu point.

    That's a lot of Petro's in that tank...wow..

The new variant looks promising to me but will admit that the appeal probably has a lot to do with it being a newly collected variant.

I could probably name off a few other variants if given the choice before this one.

There's a big difference in picking visually like the most, and those that you know you can work with in the aquarium.

Just Like Tropheus, there is such a huge variety in variant, color, and morph that makes it difficult. Especially, when Petrochromis is not hardly collected and then kept because of its agression issues in aquaria.

Putting all that aside, I would pick

                  1. Sp.Texas Flourescent Blue's
                  2. Orthognatus Ikola Tri colors
                  3. Red Fin Longolas
                  4. sp.red Bulu Point
                  5. Solid Bright Yellow Moshi - that Arthur has..

                      Cool choices guys.

                      I would agree......

However with Geoff's pick of the bright yellow Moshi like Arthur has I believe you would need to hand pick to get a good colony that looks like that.

Everytime I get them in, I get some that look like that, but the majority has brown, black or orange hue or color to them.

                        Could be mood dependent.

The Moshi's I have gotten turn dark brown in an instant and sometimes bright yellow like Arthur's.

                              these fish have such reputations..

                              Stas,

In all the pics I've seen, and the lives ones...I've never seen any Moshi as yellow as Arthur's. Even his females are that yellow, and so are his Omega's.

I dont know, I guess that is what happens when you go there and dive yourself to get your own fish, like he did.
