  • I finally have a colony of Tropheus. Come check out my video

I've been on Fishbox for about a month now reading about Trophs and Petros. I can tell I'm totally hooked since I visit this site at least 3 times daily. I've always kept african cichlids, but never had a colony. I dropped by Xtreme Fish on Sunday and he had 14 baby Trophs along with a huge colony of WC Ikola and the biggest Petros I have ever seen. I went ahead and took the plunge and took home all the baby Trophs he had.

I believe these fish are the Tropheus Kaiser. Let me know what you guys think as this is my first colony and tank. These guys are so fun to watch. So glad I bought them. Now I'm off to find a bigger tank to start my next colony!

      Congratulations !!!

I dont know what to tell you, but these fish are extremely addicting... Before you know it, you'll get rid of couches, dining room table, TV and a stereo to make room for more tanks.

      Trust me...it happens...

Welcome to the world of Trophs and Petros...

Is Driftwood bad for the fish?

It softens water and that's not ideal conditions for trophs....there maybe other reasons too, but I try to refrain from using DW in with my trophs....

Congratulations! You remind me of myself just a year ago. Like everyone has said, be careful because there is something EXTREMELY addictive about Lake Tanganyika..........

                    +1 to everyone who posted..
Just a small colony of baby dubs for me, now I have a colony of Kiku, and a colony waiting for me to pick up and tank home (as soon as the tank is up and running) sitting in College Station in wait. You will be very addicted very quickly.

What I am hearing is that those dirty Ohioans are getting busy trying to make a come back, but with our added lead and monthly additions to the Tropheus owners club, they are struggling.
