"you need a black background and the 2217's arent gonna be enough filtration in the long run. Maybe try to hide the heater and all the intank/outtake hoses. Other than that, great tank"

There, i said it for you guys. Now you all have nothing to talk about.

i think if your happy with it, then thats all that matters.

Idk... looks like hes got enough filtration 2- 2217 and 2- AC 110 (for now). over all good setup does need a back ground (pet peeve of mine). nice size colony where did you end up getting them from?

Dan did an order for me. Just another perk for driving to Sugarland twice a week to help out.

Newb.. I would be looking to add a large filtration unit into the whole thing. Think Fluval FX5 or Eheim 2262 if you do it.. better yet get a wet/dry unit because you will really see the filtration and the O2 that these fish will need.

Got plans for an Eheim 2262, although I may settle for an FX5

Looking good...Newb. Congrats on the new fish !!! As far as filtration... I wouldn't change anything. I just don't think you would see much diffrence in adding another filter over maybe adding more bio media to the filters you already have.

You could ditch one of the 2217's if you wanted. The two 110's are actually fairly strong and one 2217 would be enough. You could get rid of the K4 in my opinion also.

The tank looks great, I would not pick a black background with Moliro. I would go with medium to light blue.

54 is quite a bit of fish, in about 9 months your going to need to thin them out or get a larger tank like a 180 gallon or something.

With a 6ft aquarium you typically shoot for 20 fish per 60 gallons in a Tropheus setup.

I own 4- FX5's and 4-2262's. The 2262's are a lot better than FX5, but the FX5 much easier to clean and fill with media. The 2262 pump is on top the filter which means the pump stays cleaner. The FX5 pump is on bottom and gets more trash in it because of that.

I would go 2262 if your really looking to upgrade filtration wise.

Otherwise tank looks great, the lights are perfect, and me Idont even run a heater but in the winter months and in small hospital or timeout tanks.

On your 110 extension tubes, I would trim out the strainer on the middle tubes to help increase flow and not be so restrictive.

Just some suggestions like others have said, number 1 is you. They are your fish, you do with them as you will.

                            Take care,

                            Geoff

I kind of figured they would thin themselves out...that or I would pull some males out later when they get bigger. I actually thought about pulling the heater, so now I might do that. thx for the tip with the 110 tubes...doing that now. As far as filtration, your saying ditch a 2217 and put a bigger canister in its place? Well, better call Dan and get a 2262 on its way then.
