  • My Eyes are bigger than my tankspace - Help??

    Troph-masters,

I'm in a bind... in a good way. Currently, my tanks are set up as follow:

    300g - 10 petro moshi
    215g - 23 famula chimba and 48 tropheus m'toto (no rock scape)
125g (yes, that one) - ??? setting up tonight
    75g - 37 annectens (1-3")

I have between 3 and 6 red fin longola coming that are supposed to be pretty big.

    Where would you stick everyone??

    Here's what I'm thinking:
    300g - 10 moshi and 6 longola
    215 - 23 famula chimba
    125 - 48 m'toto
    75 - annectens (1-3")

My original goal was to keep the m'toto with the famula bc the yellows compliment each other nicely, but I'm not sure if that's a great idea if I want to have successful spawns with both groups. I may do this once the annectens outgrow the 75 gallon, but in the meantime what does everyone think???

    THANKS!!!!

Peter -- I would put the m'toto in the 125, and then setup the Moshi and Longola together. If you end up with a problem between the Moshi and Longola I would switch the Moshi and Famula

So you are looking like this

    300g -- 23 Famula Chimba & 6 Longola
    215g -- 10 Moshi
    125g -- 48 m'toto
    75g -- annectens

You other options is when everyone is grown out.

    300g -- 48 m'toto & 37 annectens
    215g -- 23 Famula Chimba & 6 Longola
    125g -- 10 Moshi

    Just my thoughts..

For best breeding chances I agree with this:

      300g - 10 moshi and 6 longola
      215 - 23 famula chimba
      125 - 48 m'toto
      75 - annectens (1-3")

But annectens get big dude. Some get bigger than dubs. You are going to have to kill off some males.

Or keep the annectens in the 125 when they full grown.

and kill off some male mtoto to keep like 20-25 in the 75g.

But as of now I would do what you are planning on.

Disclaimer, I'm no expert but I'm sure geoff will be here to help shortly.

I wouldn't put the petros in anything less than the 300.

                              300g = 10 Moshi, 6 Longola, and 23 Famula's

215 = Culled Males from Above and your Annectens or Mtoto

                              125 = Mtoto or Annectens

75 = upgrade to 120 or sell some furniture and get another 215 gallon
