Well after wating for what seemed like years to setup...I am finally almost done. This will be a thread in which I will update every so often with pictures and a list of the species in the tank. These first few pictures are the early stages of my setup. The filter game for this tank is weak right now...but as I save money I will slowly upgrade that portion of the tank. The lights right now are pretty weak as well, but I will be adding new lights this weekend hopefully. The tank is cycling for now with some used media, but Im gonna wait till tomorrow at least to add try adding some fish.

Freshly cleaned with no water and just setup.

2 2217's and 4 110's...that isn't enough filtration? How much would be enough then?

Looking good so far. you going to do anything about the stand and trim not matchin, or you don't care bout stuff like that?

for lights I am using 2x 36" Odyssea T5's with one bulb 12000K and the other True Actinic. I am going to get two more of these on saturday and I will replace all the bulbs in the two that I already have so that all the lights are even.

You answered the question. I have a pet peeve about matching stand and tank trim.

Hook up with D or them boys on marsh they got good light deals.

I been wanting to try t5 but haven't had the chance. All I ever use is CF. MH is just too much monthly electric bill for me and my tank is hot as is with all the stuff I run on it.

go to home depot buy some blue masking tape, black can of paint and a 2" brush

because that trim is its less than 20 bucks

Use the sump that you own man... that sump is a monster and you can save money, just my opinion. BTW congratulations and what is the plan? Another colony or just split them?

not to shabby. i'm gonna come take a bath in it tomorrow. With a tank that sized i'd keep a mermaid in it. She'd be there everyday looking all sexy at you but you know you shouldnt do anything with her cuz....what would your kids look like? I mean, yeah, she's hot, but its just wrong. You're just sitting there eating dinner or watching TV and she's all like "come on, Randall. You know you want to" and you'll be all like, "no Sandrina, i cant....i just cant" and you go turn the lights off so you cant see her anymore, but you know she's there....all half naked with her coconut thingies and her fins.....
Then, when you wake up in the morning and you turn the lights on to feed her, she's all looking at you all sexy again blowing kisses at you and stuff. You'll be all like "Tiffany will be up any minute, you have to stop this" and she'll be all like "I wont tell if you dont" and the thought will cross your mind to jump in there real quick and do stuff but then Tiffany wakes up and she's all like, "What's going on out here? I thought i heard you talking" and then you'll lie, "No Tiffany, nobody's talking" and then Sandrina will start splashing around making things even more uncomfortable for you so you turn the lights off again and when you go lay your head down at night to go to sleep you have inappropriate dreams about you and your mermaid and you wake up sweating and you cant go back to sleep and then you're driving to work and you haven't slept and your concentration is all off and you run into a ditch and your car explodes.....

Screw that, i'm never getting a mermaid.
