It really shows what a single variant colony can produce over multiple variants.

The Ujiji have been by themselves the entire 3 years I have owned them. They have produced fry that I have sold since I owned them - 312 fry since May 06' The first fry produced was in August I believe 2006. About 100 per year.

The Redcheeks (Aug 2007) and Annectens (July 2007) about 40-50 a year. But I had hell on the Annectens for about a year till they finally all got to eating right. The Redcheeks have been a problem because they are so agressive, and Ike screwed em up.

The others have all been in 2-3 Variant combos in the same tank, and not in a very good ratio. I used to sell Ikola like hotcakes, then I got moved them in with those FN Famula Chimba Petros and that caused hell for 18 months. Then this last bunch of Ikola I got from Blue Chips has not really produced for me at all. So not sure what the deal is on that.

These are all spit fry. I dont ever strip.

I can only imagine what those numbers would be if I stripped fry.

yeah I noticed that small changes can really make a difference with them. My dubs were breeding regularly by themselves, and the Katoto were getting into it, but when I mixed them that all came to a hault. now the dubs are by themselves and I didnt notice any breeding with 3x rock piles, removed the middle pile and in a week I have two females holding!

Just got a new light for this tank. It is a 6ft metal halide light. I think it may be Odyssea but not sure. it has 4x 96watt PC, 8 LEDs, and 3x MH I think 250watt. anyways...here is how it looks.

I can't really tell, but it looks like you have the PC's running along with the MH's. Is that correct? What is your light cycle times?

I have a similar light (only difference is mine's Coralife) and I only run the MH's. Rarely, will I turn on the PC's if I want to turn on lights off the normal cycle. The MH's really make it sparkle, don't they?

hahaha...dont tell the girlfriend. are you not supposed to have the PC's on at the same time as the MH's? I figured since they were aticnics that they complemented the bright MH's. I havent gotten timers yet, but will. any help with the times to set them would be great.

I just picked up a 250watt mh with 4x LEDs.
I won't say what I paid for it, don't want to be arrested, lol

no clue...it was used and the lady had no idea of what it was when I bought it. Her dad had just passed and left her all his fish stuff but she wasnt into fish so she is selling it.

so the weirdest thing has just happened...my biggest really colorful "Male" is in the middle of the tank holding a huge mouthful right now. Cant believe I missed this the whole time!
