I noticed from the last few threads you've posted that you don't keep any substrate in your tanks. is that because it's easier to keep clean or do you do it for aesthetic reasons.

I was trying to take pictures of these guys over the weekend. Here's the result:

That guy is the biggest photo-hog I've ever seen! He even did it today when Geoff took his pictures. He's so cute, though.

            The fish, too...)

I dont have any substrate in my tanks because it is so much easier to keep clean because all I have to do is vaccum "pooh-corner" and then I am just changing 50-75% water weekly. I also have very low nitrates because I dont have anything that did not clean staying in the gravel. So basically I do it for the "cleanliness" of it all.

I also do not have any MTS in my tanks but 2. And those are because I cannot clean out the filters all at once or I would not ahve them in there and in these two tanks they only live in the filters, and only a very very few actually make it into the tank.

I know! In person he's got this amazingly almost Day-Glo-like yellow on him. Very handsome.

Nice pics. Brichardi are definitely one of my faves.

                            Nice Geoff!

                            Three questions for you:

                            1) Those eyes are not blue like most other brichardi variants are they?

                            2) Does your colony school close together compared to your other fishes?

                            3) In the wild are they collected deep, closer to the surface, or both?
I ate my fish that died.

                              Thai,

Yeah, these guys eyes are yellow. Being a brichardi variant does not always mean blue iris. The Mtoto did not have blue iris did they?

They spread all over the tank. About the only time I see them school together, is when they know its feeding time. Otherwise they spread all over the tank.

I have to read up on the Ujiji to know what depth they are located, I cannot remember right now. Ujiji and Katonga are both really close to one another. Katonga, Kigoma are all brichardi type also and do not have blue iris. I am sure there are other brichardi Congo side, with no blue iris as well.
