I have a 75g with a cascade 1000 canister and a emperor 400 and 2 maxijet 1200 powerheads. im gonna put in pfs and some holey rock if i can find some.

about how many trophs can i put in there i was thinking something like 15.

15 should work...just make sure only two rock piles one on either side of the tank.
    25g - Reef
    3.5g - Surge Tank
10g - Ichthyophthirius multifilis breeding colony

You can get away with that amount of filtrations. But I would recommend more flow over media instead of the two maxijet.

Regarding the amount of fishes, 15 can work but I suggest strongly that you get more. If you are getting fry I would get 30 and sell of the males later to get a better ratio in the end. If you are getting adults I would get 20 and the best ratio possible, which IMHO is 4:16 in this size tank.

On the canister ditch the carbon. You are going to need to remove the impurities from the water before it hits the water. Carbon in the filter will exhaust quite quick and its not worth keeping it in your system.

I run a 70g with tropheus in it and one 1200 power head and if you are going to run two you are fine on the power heads. Yes flow is important as Tropheus for the most part (this depends very much on what variant you get) they live in the surf.

Filtration and water changes is the most important. I would seriously invest in a carbon filter to filter your water. John (fshfrk) makes them and sell them (ask him to buy one from him) to filter your tap water before it hits the tank. You will get amazing results.

I would say with 15 fish you are going to be fine with a 75. I would say you can push a max of 20-22 fish in a 75. After that you want to get a bigger tank. The longer the tank the better you are off.

Rock work I would recommend you make two piles of rocks or what I have found that also works which is one long reef style rock work where there are different sizes of rocks next to each other. In a 4ft tank 2 or 3 males will secure areas and thats it.

Keep asking questions its the best thing to do :)

Note that geoff is also referring to full grown tropheus when he is talking about these numbers. It takes them 3-4 years, if not longer, to get this big. I personally pack my colonies tighter than Geoff does anyhow.

target 10 times turn over rate if you don't have a wet/dry.

                          that's 750gph flow over media.

Google "whole house carbon filter." The idea is to clean the water before it even gets into the tank.
