  • Does anybody here keep sp. “Black” Caramba?

I'm planning getting either these or Dubs and I wanted people's opinions on them. They're going in 50 grow out before I clear some room and move them to a 75.
So many things can be a mystery, when all we're seeking is freedom...

I would get caramba before dubs.

Rare fish. Where are you getting them if you don't mind me asking?

    Are they WC?

Never seen any in real life.
I ate my fish that died.

Caramba are not rare fish, they are just rarely kept like the Rutunga.

They are a pretty much solid black fish, with some red in the body, but lots of red on the head.

Most people pursue the Bemba if they are looking for a red/black Tropheus.

I have seen a group of Caramba at Armke's about 2005 right before they sold out to Dave. They are a cool looking fish.

Personally, I think you should get a 125 gallon tank and keep about 20 each Duboisi and Caramba together. It makes for a really nice combination of color and they go really well together.

I don't think they ever had a lot of color.
