  • Petro sp. Texas Bulu Point and Troph M'toto

While I was busy stocking every tank I own to over-capacity I traded Brian (russ) for some new petros and stuck them in with my m'totos.

Here's a vid to prove it...

          Peter,

Nice tank, but I still say just like I did back 3 months ago or so when you got these fish, that there is Ujiji in there.

I have not seen your tank upfront, and maybee Mtoto do have some odd juvi coloration pattern or something, but....

I still think there is Ujiji in there.

I know what you are saying geoff. I seen those fishes as fry at EK's and bigger at Peter's. They look mtoto to me. But you know how hard it is looking at fry/juvies. I can see the argument for ujiji. They still need more time.

Sounds like Peter has to host a tank tour so people can see these boys in real life!

There are a number of them in this forum.

Look at Mike's adult Mtoto there is no yellow on the bellies or in the dorsal. Their yellow is splotchy on the face, on the pectorals, and in the eyes. The body of those adults are solid color pretty much.

In the fish that look Ujiji to me they are the ones that look like this internet photo.

If I can find some in this forum of mine..feel free to take a look.

I think the guy EK bought these fish from up in where ever off Trophs.com or what not...had no clue what he had...and if I remember he was selling Ujiji also.

I think he screwed up and sent Quoc both fishes..

the larger ones (WC adults) are quoc's old fish which are mike's old fish (TTT). so, when the juvies get old enough we can compare straight up right next them. only time will tell I guess, but I think quoc was pretty confident he got mtoto.

btw, i got females packing!!!!!!!!! gotti, where's my tumbler!?!?!?!?!?

btw, here's quoc's response to this the last time you brought it up....

Houston Area and Beyond. Tropheus and Petrochromis keepers sharing knowledge, experiences, and networking together to spread interest and improving quality of life for these fishes in aquarium environments.

"I believe the M'toto that I got from Reserve should be correct cause at the time I think that was the only Brichardi variant he had in stock.

Could be wrong but then again what's not word of mouth these days.

Like Peter just stated... the Dom. Male had some wild colors that showed up in my tank that was not present at any other time that I saw this variant (@mike's when full colony and afterwards) so who knows..."

None the less...Ujiji and Mtoto are awesome fishes.

How old are these fishes now? The Juvi's from Reserve Stock?
