lol, you totally posted that for nothing Peter........three last words being, "so who knows...."

Dude, you got mtoto! They don't look like ujiji to me. Geoff's fish are monster big and they kind of show coloring like your mid size ones. I'm sure when they get bigger their color will turn more brown.

How old are the youngin now, 10-12 months?

I dont remember ever seeing them at Mike's where they had bright yellow bellies, dorsals, or stripes as adults.

Some of those fish you got in there look like 6 month old Ujiji

Agreed. But Mike also had them under different lights.

They always had that dirty gold almost bronze yellow always on the faces, heads, and pectorals. The body was brown/olive color.

They also sell Ulwile...I would be careful if any of those Juviniles are holding.

I had ulwiles at that age. They don't like ulwiles to me. Closer to ujiji, IMHO.

I was only making a point that Brichardi fry are so damn close that it would be very very easy for someone who was not careful or professional in what they are doing breeding wise, to get them mixed up.

Maybe they got it together, but their $12/hr employee who bagged them between drinking a 40 and puffing a hooter, probably screwed up.

I cannot wait to see these fish in person to resolve this. I would put money just based upon the videos there is two types of fishes in there.

Peter when you first posted that first Video in September, I said it was two types. Quoc had these fish for about 3 months before he sold them. That would mean these fish are around 5-7 months old.

They should just about be fully in adult color in about 4-7 months.

Yeah, I agree with you. I look at my namansi fry and they basically look the same as my ulwiles fry. I think even experts can't tell them apart at that age.

Only after they put some size on them will we be able to tell. I do see some ujiji colors on the younger ones (they look to be 3.5'4'' now). I wonder if the ones from Mike show those bars on their side with the yellow on the belly when they get stressed?

mtoto are rare and awesome. ujiji are ujiji. if i gots ujiji with my mtoto then i need to separate them out ASAP. the juvies are too young to be breeding right now, plus they're getting pushed around pretty good by my adults. very aggressive trophs IMO. like you say, most brichardi variants look similar as juvies.... no one has ever seen juvie mtoto bc they are so rare. let's all hope they're mtoto. either way, i'll get some fry from the adults soon enough :)

I would put them closer to 10 months cause they came in varying size when EK's first got them too. Even the smallest ones should have been a few months old.

man... after looking at geoff's thread of his ujiji, I'm having second thoughts. if you're right about them having their full adult colors RIGHT NOW, then.........
