How long was the tank setup after you washed the bio-balls in the washing machine?

Are the Duboisi your new fish or those yellow guys? I cannot tell what they are in the photo I am too old...

I has one Duboisi I had in the Hex for two years. I bought some more from someone on this forum and r doing great>

As far as the bioballs- I put in the wahser becasue there was all kinds of cyrstalized salt attached to the balls. They have not been used in over two years.

So, I put bioballs in wahser and ran the sanitize cycle w/ a tablesppon of bleach. I then ran the washer in rinse/spin mode several times to ensure bleach was not a problem. I also put all in a big bucket with fresh water and addded a bunch of dechlorinator-just in case.

Immediately put bioballs in wet/dry and ran for two days w/o fish. However, I added a bunch on existing substrate and squeezed a sponge filter in the water to get the Nitrifying process kicked-off. Also added Seachem "Stability" to quickly cycle tank. Two days later, tested for Ammona, none, no nirtite and small level of nitrate. Added 30 Red Rainbows with proper acclimation. Kept checking water levels and continued adding Stability every day. Did 50% water change after 3 days! All seems well. Slowing increased feeding of "Ken's cichlid flake and are coloring up well. No signs of distress and no fatalaties!

I am running a high flow and have a huge amount of bio ball surface area, so I think I'm good here too!

Fish are showing signs of "courting" and establishing their little areas. As you guys said..., I tried to make several seperated areas for males to do their thing!

I have some small LED moon lights I turn on at night. It's awesome looking. Look up at the ceiling and you see the reflection of fish all over the ceiling. Dogs don't know what to make of it? Funny thing to watch.

          Now i'm getting more addicted.........

I have this nice 110 Oceanic show tank that's empty now. Just need a good cleaning and perhaps strip and re-stain to match existing wood in rest of house. Toughest thing would be for the Wife and i to move the freaker. Has two Amiracle wet/dry's.....so i really just need new bio balls...HMMMMM. Dubousi could use more room? I like Ikola's! Wonder how much my Christmas bonus is going to be?

Yeah, pimp tank alert on the cherry oak stand/canopy. Love the black seal on the tank too.
