Last time I was there, he had the females by the cash register and a number of the males in single tanks. 2 months ago or so..

He normally has them in his 240 that is in his office.

back of the left isle, is 2x males in 20g tanks, right side with the malwai peackocks theirs the infamous 10+" show male in his 40g breeder, and then midway down theirs another male in a 40g breeder, then under the big male theresa small male in another 40g.

thent he females are in the 110 in the front of the store.

theres also a couple others scattered around.
this was 2 days ago when i went there.

Another update

Alison of Cichlid and Herps is supposed to be getting one more shipment of fish from Africa and in that shipment will be some reds..... They are mostly for her breeding stock... but she will have some for sale... Only phone calls on the discussion of the Petro reds..

Were there any attempts to breed them????

and if the reason was not to breed them being that the fry would be F2, would not a male from Greg solve that particular problem?

Just am curious that nothing was said about this particular thread of any or not any breeding going on???

IMO if this is the reason then that is just dumb. if this fish is that hard to get im sure someone wouldnt mind having a f2 colony. but what do i know i dont keep petros.

from what I have heard...I think he just never really had the right conditions in the tank and never had any luck with them. I was told he kept very large giraffe cats in the tank with them along with other fish that could have been interrupting the possibilty of breeding. He now has LARGE, BEAUTIFUL males and females alone in small 20gallon tanks throughout the store....really sad to tell you the truth.

But they are HIS fish and I guess he is allowed to keep them however he likes...

i feel the same way about certain fish Mike has at FR2 cramped in those 25g cube tanks. i have offered to buy some but either its an outrageous price or they are not for sale.

Alex has a lot of pride and he is a hobbyist too. I think he just never made the real effort in getting it to happen, but they are amazing fishes..
