  • My first T. Moorii Kambwimba Fry

Just this past Tuesday I picked up a Red Rainbow colony from Geoff. Several of the females were holding and a few actually spit while we were netting them. I let Geoff keep those since I don't have a fry tank.

Today while doing my first water change on thier tank I noticed a single fry swimming around. I am extremely happy but a little unprepared.

I am heading to Petsmart later to buy a tank and filter but I am not sure what to feed the little guy. Any help is welcome.

Congrats. I'm not a tropheus person, but most quality flake food should work.

Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Awesome, Gene! Glad they're happy. :)

I'll second everyone else. Flakes and NLS - either NLS Grow or the 1mm pellets. Geoff usually feeds both flake and the 1mm pellets, but for the tiny ones he'll feed Grow or some of my small NLS formulas like Small Fish and the Community Fish formula. It's all good. But yes, sometimes the really little ones have trouble with the 1mm pellets. But they can eat the flake.

              Congrats!

Thanks everyone. I found one more of the little guys for a grand total of 2.

I did put some NLS 1mm in with them and they did not hesitate for a second. It has been fun watching them swim around holding them looking like beach balls in thier mouths.

I guess I will use the NLS chiclid until I can make it up to Houston for Grow

                          Set up a fry tank

Well after a quick trip to Petsmart my 2 fry now have a home to call thier own. I picked up a 20 gallon long and an Aquaclear 30. Each of them has 10 gallons to themselves and I am around $100 lighter.

I will try to post some pictures later. This is my only day off this week and I have about 400 chores and errands to run

Thanks for the offer Front but that is a haul for me. I usaully hit FRII or City Pets since they are more or less off the Beltway. That reduces the trip to about 70 miles
