  • Pictures of Musanga

    Hello All,
I got the first installment of my WC musanga in this afternoon. 7F and 5M. They've been at Butch's (Aquarium Maint. Specialist) since October, but I treated them as if they were fresh out of the Lake. I made the mistake once in not taking the necessary paranoid and strict steps in acclimating WC Ilangi who'd been in GA water for 2 years and they bloated and I lost 11. I am a propheltactic metro user, btw. Scold me all you want, but had I used it on the Ilangi they'd still be in my tank, and I will always use it as part of my protocol.
I will be picking up the other 10 newly WC March 6 or so.
Here are a few pix I snapped off before covering the tank. They were in there not 10 minutes before they started begging.

Thanks for looking guys. I'll get some better pix up once they've settled a little.
    All the best!!
    Jenney.

Besides some head coloring, what differences in them have you seen over the Chilambo?

I'll take some pictures of them after my guest leaves. They look almost dead on the same. I musanga are perhaps a little yellower? Heads a little darker plum? The Chilambo also had some green flashed on their body? I have the question marks there because those are my thoughts. Since I have company I haven't had time to put those questions to the test with a lot of observation.
But I can say for sure that I really really like them. They are very outgoing like the Chilambo.

Here are some pix of them now that they've settled. I took some with flash and some without. They have darker heads and generally brighter yellow bodies than the chilambo. But not much else is different!

Here is a survivor Chilambo female

Here are the Chilambo right after I'd dropped them in the tank.

Here's one I put up on another thread, but it's handy to have it here for comparison: holding female

                          Dominant male Chilambo

The Chilambo to me seem to have more colors in them. Green and lavender, namely. They both exhibit the patch of yellow sometimes like the moops have with their spot, but it is mood dependant. These pix, as you guys know, don't really do the fish justice: they are really pretty.
Once I get the other 10, I think there will be more color in the colony because of tempers flaring and courting colors.
                          thanks for looking
                          Jenney.

Chilambo's have a little more green speckled in their face as far I see it. Musanga and Chilambo are close in colors.
