  • Simo's spawned and I didn't even know it!

First of all, my Simo's hate me. They hide when I look at them, but when company comes over, they are all front and center, being all "Look at me! Look at me! We're so cute and stuff!"...but I walk up and they are all 'Poof!' and all I see are little puffs of sand and Simo-snouts poking out from the rocks. So, really, I shouldn't be surprised that they would keep their spawning from me too.

So back to the topic, I was doing a water change on a tank very near the Simo tank and while I was standing there, I turned a little to try and sneak a peak at them. Of course, they caught me and hid in the rocks....except one. I thought I was seeing things at first since they are usually all 'equal-opportunity-Traci-snubbers', but apparently they hadn't told the new guy. I looked closer and there it was...a tiny Simo fry.

The unfortunate thing is that I can't find out if anyone is still holding, or if there are more fry in there....since they hate me.

Sure! I'll get a pic as soon as I see the little guy out again. Otherwise I'd just be posting a picture of a seemingly empty tank.

Mine are only about 3" max.

8"??? Is that normal?? Or do you just raise really large fish?

John only has / had Simo Babaulti. He has / had two different catch area's .. one more blue one more green. I love them, and if I could have another tank I would love to have some.. but no tank to live in no getting them..

Thats a normal size for this variant. Very aggressive fish.

                            But I don't want hundreds....

I've stripped fish in the past and it's a lot of trouble...I will just create more fry safety areas now that I know it's happening. And scoop them into one of those fry baskets you gave me as I find them.

John - I promise next time I stop by I will strip all of your simo's again. I need the practice :) man I miss stopping by both your place Traci and yours John. -- but alias not to worry... Nick (roomate) will be building the stand for the 215 this week.. once its done I just need a few more things and the tank will be ready for "installation"

A trip to Nepco will be needed soon too. I need to get the 110 readied for the trops going into it when the cyps and xeno's move in to the 215 :)
