There are 6 species of petros.
1) polyodon
2) fasciolatus
3) trewavasae
4) orthognathus
5) famula
6) macrognathus
All other species are not officially recognized. If people (PhD folks) do work I think the sp. giants and sp. mtoto should have their own classification.
All other petros that have a name like "petrochromis sp. marcognathus rainbow "Kipili" is not an official class of species. The fact that their office name has "sp." in it means that it's not formally recognized.
I think all petros that are in their office class will most likely not cross breed. So you can keep famulas with polyodon all day and they will not cross breed. However, if you mix non-official species together their may be some cross breeding.
I wouldn't keep sp. macrognathus rainbow with any polyodon. Their body shape is a lot alike. The sp. macrognathus rainbow is closer in body shape and mouth structure to polyodon then the true petro macrognathus.I ate my fish that died.

Well documented as well. Is the female green macro still kickin'?
2) Greens are settled in. All have taken to pellets except two. All they want to eat is shrimp mix and Krill. Good news is one of the female greens has a dropped tube....so lets see if the male can make it happen.
I have not seen any breeding action at all from the greens. The famula try to breed all day. I have three famula female holding right now.I ate my fish that died.
