  • My new group of Tropheus Lupota

Here are a few pics I took tonight of the WC group of 24 I picked up last Thursday

They are looking alot better and are settling in nicely. They will be stunners once they've completely acclimated and are on my homemade food.
    They are in a 135 with 2 Rena XP 3's and a Quiet one 2200 on a hydro V.
At first I was a little bummed with their appearance, but they are coloring up nicely and I think they will be my new faves in a little while.
    Thanks for looking,
    Jenney.

Do you think that's what they are? I was unable to locate them in Aqualog, nor find any pix on line.
They are gaining weight. I have a few skeletors still, but the majority are looking better.
I am feeding them my homemade frozen food once a day and Xtreme Cichlid pellet the other daily feeding. My homemade stuff has a bunch of veggies with all the colors: red, orange, purple, green: both light and dark, yellow. It makes my fish look like a million bucks! When I make it out there, I will bring some for you. Once they get used to it, they attack it. The swarm around the frozen cube is cool. These guys are very outgoing and already beg. They come out of the water, too. Can't wait to get pix of that and since I have all the time in the world to get the settings on my camera just right, they will be better quality than the ones of the lufubu I took.

Thai, I will be taking pix of them to document their progress and provide more images. There aren't that many pix of them and the ones I saw were disppointing and not at all flattering.

                    Jenney.

                      Jen,

That first pictures shows range of color! Very nice looking fish indeed. Feed them krill to fatten them up!

This batch of my homemade stuff has shrimp, scallops and tilapia as the meat. Is there a difference between krill and shrimp nutrition wise? I've also used flounder and whiting. I liked the results from all I've tried so far. The only thing I will never again put in my mix is flogging parsley!!!! it makes a huge mess in the tanks because it doesn't bind/stick well with the rest of ingredients and floats off.

But I been feeding my tropheus Krill once every 2 days as a treat for about 2 months and they love the stuff.

Next I'm try to feed my tropheus only shrimp and see what happens.

                              Thanks Chad.
They are still learning to eat the frozen homemade stuff. It takes them about 2 weeks to learn how to eat it and then they swarm like pirranah on an injured howler monkey there after.
I am stoked to have them and look forward to watching for differences in their behaviour and such from the moori. I want to keep a representative from each of the species and have actually been toying with the idea of selling my moop colony to open a tank up to do just that. But that is a serious decision that will take a lot of thought because I really really dig that group. But the addict in me is starting to holler for fresh blood, so to speak.
I would worry about the moops in someone else's tank.
