I am sure you got Lupota, but it used to be more of a old school fish that used to be called "purple collar" and looked like this...
I think over time the the variant has morphed somewhat in its description.

Geoff,
Both of those fish are stunners.
Thank you for posting them because it really makes me happy that I made the decision to bring them in instead of the moliro.
Do you have any theories as to why the description has changed on the Lupota?
To me the morphology of the mouthpiece is slightly different from that of the moorii, but I could just be seeing a skinny fish's mouth. It's subtle but it seems wider and more "Tropheus" shaped, as in rounder steeper slope. I need to go get another memory card and will snap off some shots. They've gained weight since the last photos.

The Kiku and Lupota are really close, but the Kiku'e eyes are more redish/orange in color.
Lupota have yellow/orange in color.
I think these fish could pass for either one really. I think the most important thing is just call them what your importer says they were.

Hello Everyone,
Here are some pix I took of them last night. I made a valuable discovery regarding settings on my camera: to set it to "Flash" under white balance options. I had taken pics with it set on flourescent and daylight. I will put both up. The "Flash' setting really captures more natural looking photos and the others create a blue hue.
With the "Flash" setting on.
With the flourescent setting on:
They're gaining weight and looking great.
Thanks for looking, guys!

Jenney speaking of importers what is yours doing to make things right with the Namansi Reefs?
He said his peeps caught 100 pieces and should have them soon. I can't nail him down for a definition of "soon". But he's either going to refund my $ or cough em up.....SOON!! LOL.
