I am trying to find out a good brand for my 20 Ikola frys. They are about 1.5 in. long now. They are eating NLS right now but I will need to buy more food soon and id like to buy in bulk. Also i couldnt help but notice that NLS almost costs its weight in gold. Ive always used Tetra brand food from Walmart to feed my tetras and platys. Any advise would be of help. Thank you.

NLS is the most commonly fed food for trophs. Although alot mix with or in combination with other foods. I use NLS mixed with Dainichi veggie deluxe. As well as Aquarian flake. I know several people who use Hikari cichlid gold and excel as well. But if you find NLS expensive your not going to like the price of some of the others, esp. the Dainichi120g - Tropheus Moorii Kambwimba
180g - Petrochromis Macrognathus Dine/Tropheus Moorii Namansi I

I use Cichlid Excel for my trophs. It's wheat germ and spirulina, so it's good for them. Right now, you can't buy it in bulk, but I contacted Hikari a few weeks ago and they said they will be coming out with a 2.2 lb. package in a few months. Our Fishhouse

I know you think that NLS is kinda expensive...but if you really break it down you will see that it is actually cheaper than Tetra . If you look at the can of Tetra ...you see what looks like a large can . But if you look at the actual weight ...you will see that the can only holds 10.58 oz. or 300 grams .....this ...is just barely over half a pound . This can will usually cost you about $12.00 to $15.00 in the store....for what is basically half a pound . NLS is sold bulk for roughly $60.00 for a 5lb. bucket . Using the above info...it will take approximately 10 cans of Tetra to add up to 5lbs. So that means ten cans of tetra @ $12.00 to $15.00 a can will cost you $120.00 to $150.00 . So actually , NLS is considerably cheaper than Tetra Bits plus it's a far better food for your Trophs .

Feed NLS growth till they get about 2" along with a really good flake food.
Then once 2.5" and larger move them over the larger 1mm, 3mm pellets of NLS380G For Sale $3000 Acrylic tank & stand
