  • Should I mix these two variants?

    Hey Everyone,
Many of you know that I've been waiting for my Namansi Reef group to get in. They should be here on 07/10 or so. I have the opportunity to get sp. mpimbwe too from the same guy. I would put them in the same tank (135 gal) as the Namansi. I was thinking of a group of 18 (in trios) in each variant.

I am torn. Money is somewhat of a concern. But space for another tank is nowhere to be found at my house and I won't have a tank to QT the mpimbwe, or any other fish (especially WC), I bring in to put into that tank.

    My questions are these:
    Chances of interbreeding?
Are either of them hyper aggressive?
Should I just get a few more Namansi and call it a day?
I was toying with the idea of some petros for the tank if I decide to have a small group of Namansi as the only Troph in the tank. Trews. But I have no QT tank...how necessary is it to QT F1/TR petro juvies?

I love the look of the mpimbwe and have been coveting Geoff's since I saw them. I am torn.

Any advice or insight is welcome and valued. Thanks in advance.

I decided to only get the namansi. I will get a few more: 21 instead of 18.

I will let them settle in and get some F1 Trews. How many Trews should I get for a 135? I am very excited to get started on petros. I have wanted Trews since I first saw them in 1995 in a show tank at a fish store in Denver. I've had people tell me their aggression level is about the same as Trophs and would be a good starter Petro for me. Any other thoughts on that statement?

Sorry I never got those namansi fry to you Jenny. My parent just moved to Santa Mari Island in Florida and I thought I would drop them off when I passed thru to see my brother in Atlanta. Anyway f1 trews are easy and grow slow. I would get at least 10-12. They should mix well with any troph.

          John,
          No worries! Life happens.
Drop me a line when you're out here, though! When will you be passing through? Maybe I could buy some Trews from you instead?! jThe tank they're going in is set up and ready to go. I am looking to get the namansi about mid July.
I am excited at the prospect of having Petros.

That's all I need: another addiction. But I knew it was inevitable that I get into them.
It was suggested on another site to look into famula or moshi F1 and grow them out together. That they wouldn't be as bad. Sounds a lot like Trophs.

I know the Trews are not as colorful as other Petros, but there's something about them....I am afraid, however, that the black background will make them hard to see. My lupota are in that tank right now and they are hard to see because they are pretty dark....Hmmm. I will do my homework and make a decision.

              Thanks,
              Jenney.
