  • AT LAST!!! T. brichardi Namansi in da house!

    Hello Everyone!
After months of waiting, I finally have a small group of these, my Holy Grail of Tropheus.
I was supposed to get 18, but ended up with 13. Four of them are what I like to call "Skeletors" which means that they are extremely thin and I expect that I will lose a couple. They are all by themselves in a 135, so I will be looking to get some Duboisi Kigoma to fill out the tank. If the group does fall to below 12, I will move them to a smaller tank and cast about for a new Holy Grail. The words petrochromis and T. sp mpimbwe "Red Cheek" come to mind. LOL.
    Here are some photos.

    Thanks for looking!
    Jenney.

Well, three of the four skeletors died.
I knew there would be mortality and I had all four slated to go and meet the Reaper, but one dodged the bullet.
I have MTS in this tank (who keep it nice and clean!), and these guys pull them off the glass and drop them. They don't eat them, just harass them. None of the other variants do that. I think it's funny.
The others are settled in to their palace...10 fish in the group in a 135. Hands down the coolest variant I have.

Hope you all are doing well!

There is minimal aggression. One is pretty pushy, but leaves them alone once he's chased them a few feet.
There were only three males to begin with, and I hope that at least one of them wasn't a skeletor.
I am surprised that the aggression is ok. That could change once spawning starts. So, I figure I have a month or so to find some dubs to put in with them.

                              Chad,
I'm out of the loop these days too. Seems like I go in cycles where I am on alot and then not on much at all.
I've decided to downsize the colonies to lessen the bio load in my tanks so I can get away with doing waterchanges every three weeks instead of every week. I am starting my own biz and need the time I dedicated to fish husbandry for that.
I moved the Musanga in with them. They are both small groups and I figured they would benifit from each other's company. The dubs will have to wait for a bit. In the meantime, the two groups mesh well together.
I'll try to get you some more photos of them. I have a nice light scoop that I want to use and see how the pix turn out. I've been using a piece of toilet paper...LOL.
                              Glad to hear from you!!
