I understand the thinking that ending any fish is a terrible waste but a bigger picture must be looked at here. Allowing hybrids puts the whole species at risk because you never know where that fish will end up. The species are defined by their characteristics so if a hybrid taints the lines, that species ceases to exist. That is a greater tragedy in my opinion. That is why I will be moving over 4 big synodontis to my troph tank when I move them up to the 185 and any fry that escape them will never leave the tank.

All mutts are chum :) I like the idea of making them coral food or feeder fish. Designer fish are bad enough (yes I have contributed), but you have to respect those who pay to bring in WC pure strains to preserve the species line. To cross bread is to reduce the purity. These are not dogs or something. A fry in not a pet that you have a bond with. Take it out young and move on. OR better yet, do not provide a chance for the situation to take place. Good planning is everything.
