  • Couple of tropheus questions

Ok guys.... I'm deciding which variant I am going to go with.

Here's the two fish I am most likely going to go with: Red Rainbows or Ilangi. Going to get 25 or 30 F1s of a single variant for the 90.

Of the red rainbow - which of these show the best color? Kambiwimba or Kasanga? Which do you like best?

I also dig the WC purple lufubu that TX troph traders has in but am a little hesitant about having my first colony of trophs be WC. Should I or shouldn't I go WC with my first colony?

If you want one of the most colorful and stunnig troph I would go with the Ilangi IMO. And 30 would be a great number. Especially with the amount of filtration you plan on running

Kasanga has the better red colors than other red rainbow variants but also depends of the fish stock quality imho, . Ilangi has better colors than the Kasangas (more brillant). Also i don't think Texas Tropheus traiders has any Lufubus for sale, if you see their website the last update was on May 26th, 2008 and i think those lufubus are in my or Cesar's tank )

I was leaning towards the ilangis....sounds like the choice is pretty clear.

So what about a first time troph keeper doing WC? Advisable or should I get some experience with the fish first before doing WC?

If you feel comfortable getting WC buy wild if you want f-1 get them. I would bet WC so you don't have to wait for them to grow to adulthood

I think F1's is your best choice for now. With your first colony you can learn how to deal with aggression, illness, ratio, water quality and the infamous "bloat". I vote F1's and with red rainbows or Ilangis you cannot go wrong.

Yea, I agree.. get F1's to start with. Try to find some full grown F1 - will take a little searching.

Or skip the WHOLE tropheus thing and go right into PETROS!

If tropheus, and you want color.....ilangis own RRs.

You want to see both in real life then PM Miggy.
I ate my fish that died.

you want to talk about splurge........ lol i been on a mission.

i think if what ever you want try to find them big so that you dont have to wait for them to grow out. i got really impatient so i got rid of small f1 and got WC cause they were bigger. big f1 can look good to.
