  • First time tropheus holding

My tropheus are about 3-4" and i think one of the females is holding. She doesnt really eat and she has a bulge right now. I dont kno when the female started holding and im not sure if i should strip or when i should do it. If I let the female release her frys in the tank, they probably wont survive because its a 75 gallon and theres a super hungry moshi in the tank with them lol. not enough rockwork for them to hide from 20 tropheus. please give me some advice on stripping, i really want to keep the fry if she really does have some.

i think and im no expert but u should let her hold them and just keep an eye on her i belive they hold for about 28 day and around day 24 to 25 then u should strip her thats what i do with my peacocks and i put them in a egg tumbler if u dont have one then i recommend u get one asap

i wasnt really checking them to seeif they were holding prior to that day, so i thought she wuld be holding atleast a week or two hopefully. in the end, im not sure how long it was when she was holding.

if its their first time holding, sometimes they just practice with eggs right? i read that somewhere. maybe ill let them release in the tank and then try to strip after they get better at it.

If your tropheus are not rare I wouldn't worry strip her if you are not planning sell the fry, just let the females hold to term and release the fry in the tank, it's better for your colony, for you (no stress) and for produce stronger fry. Just my 2 cents.
Now if you want to strip a female don't do it before the week 3-4.
