There was also a quote about not wanting to take business from anyone and I would say that this is doing exactly that.

          Hope all goes well.

Nobody needs to argue. This is a one time deal. No local stores are going to suffer from this one deal.

We are consistently hurting LFS when we trade our fry/unwanted tanks etc that could have been bought from a LFS instead.

Dane, you could contact the supplier direct.

Ek chill out. I wasn't trying to start anything either.

Obviously retailers can participate because the guy holding the fish is a retailer.

                I'm just saying.

I'm fine....Just didn't want you to get the wrong idea thinking that we are trying to exclude you, that's all.

As for the guy holding the fish....He is the one actually importing it for us.

I realize that. But he is also a retailer. Include one include all. I figured me buying only helped the cause. I have no intentions on selling to anyone in Houston or even online. I don't sell online anymore I mainly deal with walk ins and other people in the metroplex that don't trust mail order. I could import directly from the same source but the volume is too much for me to handle.

I don't want to step on any toes I just wanted a couple of groups of fish nothing more than most of you are already ordering. If I cannot participate I won't be bitter just think about it. I am in Dallas after all.

I believe they are wanting to keep retailers out of the equation to make sure that everyone(hobbyiest, not retailers) can get the fish or quantity they want.

Instead of posting on here about how you feel you should be involved in the order, just PM geoff to see if you can get involved.  Sounds like he would have the final say.

If you want in on the order, you are more then welcome. This special group buy is for the hobbyist only. So no one here will be reselling the fish they brought for profit.

This is only an estimate at this point.  I am getting a firm price from Mike on this, but the bagging fee is going to depend on your order size.

A small order that only takes a bag or two may only cost $3 for the bags, and rubber bands.  If you have a large order that takes a box, a number of bags, and maybe even some O2 for a long trip that may cost $10-15.

For most people, I would budget around $5 for this fee.

                          Dane (RiftToReef),

First off, welcome to the Houston FishBox.  I do not know you, but guessing from a number of people's responses you must be from the Dallas Fishbox.  I have no problem with members of that forum who want to be part of this.  I do however need to know the intent of their use for the fish.  If the fish you are interested in are for your private fish room, home aquarium, or even a store "Not For Sale" display then there is no problem with you getting in on this order.  IF, the fish you are wanting is for re-sale in your store, then I cannot allow you to be part of this.  That was made very clear from the beginning.

This group order is 100% for the Hobbyist.  Even Mike, who is an internet retail business, is only getting 1-Box of fish for his personal tanks.  So, that everyone would have a chance to get fish they want to import, Mike is willing to commit up to 50% of the box.  Those fish that he has to pay for to make that happen will be re-sold thru his business.  Those are the only fish available for re-sale.

Everyone who is going in on this order is placing an order of fish that are for their fish room, or home aquarium.  It is a chance of a lifetime to place an order direct from Africa, where YOU get access to the lists, and YOU make the choice of what YOU want to import for YOUR aquariums.

                          Take care,

                          Geoff
