Shipping Cost : $225 per box spilt by all persons ordering that box equally no matter order size. As long as 12 fish remain in the box (aprox.20%), Mike will go in as a equal partner on the shipping.  (1/2 of the Box) must be sold to others for it to be imported by Mike.

Boxing and Bagging Fee : $6.00 per Box, $1 per bag

Mike is buying the fish, then selling them to us. Because hes in College station, Tx, he has to charge Texas residents sales tax.

1:1 ratios are not really a big deal.
Even so, you could cull some males and still be ahead since WC Lufubus are generally pretty expensive in the market.

I would assume its going to be on the total amount.  As a business, he must charge you tax on any money collected.  So unless he is willing to take cash under the table for things like shipping, customs charges, or even the fish then he must charge tax.

I am really sorry that it was not made more clear to me about the sales tax.  It was an oversight on my part and Mike's to not make it more clear to me.

I have PM'd Mike for the College Station sales tax rate which will be charged to us, because Mike is selling us the fish at no profit.

Consider your pre-paid money as deposit.

I am not sure if shipping, and customs is taxable.  This is something I have to reasearch.

Mike cannot hide and will not hide some $5-6K worth of credit card, pay-pal, and cash business sales.  This is illegal and Mike will not have any of that.

Please understand that I too, was confused on this, so I feel everyone's angst.

Mike is making no money on this, other than what goes unsold from the boxes.  Which in case anyone has looked lately, is almost nothing.

When I get thru all the PM's I will post updates.

I hope everyone understands the sales tax is required on this.

Now lets get back to the FISHES!!

Customs is an import tax, so isnt taxable again. So you'll save about $1.20 not having to pay tax on the customs charge :P

Customs Fee : $250 split evenly by all members.  $200 is actual customs for the importation of the goods from Africa and is based upon a percentage of the declared value.  The additional $50 is the cost of one tank of gas for Mike's travel to IAH for pickup and return to College Station.  Currently we have (16) People = $15.62 per person ~ $16 each

Shipping Cost : $225 per box spilt by all persons ordering that box equally no matter order size. As long as 12 fish remain in the box (aprox.20%), Mike will go in as a equal partner on the shipping.  (1/2 of the Box) must be sold to others for it to be imported by Mike. $200 of this cost is the cost by the airlines for the actual shipment of the box on Delta Airlines coming direct from Johannesburg, South Africa to Houston, Texas (IAH). $25 is the charge that Michelle of African Cichlids Aquaculture charges for box and bagging, and ground transport to Johannesburg, South Africa from Lake Tanganikya (Nsumbu), Zambia

Boxing and Bagging Fee : $6.00 per Box, $1 per bag

Replacement or Additional Fish : Fish to replace DOA's will be sold at cost per fish to import. Group-buy members can also purchase additional fish at this same cost. This is defined as, the purchase price from the list based upon order size and the shipping price of the box divived by the number of fish that came in that box.

Sales Tax : 8.25% will be applied to all Texas Residents for sale of merchandise.  This includes the price of the fish, any replacement fish, any additional fish, bags, boxes, and rubberbands.  The Customs fee and Shipping cost from Africa cannot be taxed for these are not actual merchandise.***
