    Re: Got my fish home!!!

I think it just depends on the variant and the photographer.

Sp.red color is also extremely mood dependant, and their scared color is black/dark brown color.  So if they are scared, or not real excited their colors can be somewhat subdued or lacking.

Well....Most of what I have seen in person are not good looking....more so with red sp. then others but every variant has it's variance.

Ligting also plays a much larger role for them.  They also need more dominance.

The lupota I have are dominant fish, so they're colors are better.

The Lunangwa are much red and yellow in the flanks to give them a more orange look.

A scared sp.red is almost black.  They can have a very nice color if done right.

            Re: Got my fish home!!!

Yes but there is still the variation that goes on in the variant just like any other variant. I also don't like how the Red sp. turns brown when in fright or old age.

IMO Ndoles look better out of all of them.

                  Re: Got my fish home!!!

They look nice, although a bit timid still. Are you going to keep your fronts and petros together long term? what about that lone petro in the other tank? Have you thought about trowing him into the mix?

Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

                    Looking good!

I agree with Tim....no long term petro/fronts.....either will suffer but usually the fronts since they will not get enough food once those petros settle in and they are way too busy for the fronts.

yes yes, this is temporary. I was having issues with the 90 leaking at the bulkhead and it still had to cycle for a few days. It should be ready tomorrow, I just need glass tops.  :? As far as adding the other male from the chimba tank, I'm just going to leave him. I've got a ratio of 4M/8F and don't want to add the other male. My largest male in the 150 is 5".

Well this weekend was busy as hell, but right now the 300 gallon is home to 15-Petrochromis Trewavsae and 12-Ectodus Descampsii

It is really weird watching them.  The Ectodus are schooling together near the middle and top, and the Petrochromis are schooling together in the rockwork.

I guess they are not used to swiming around in 8ft tank?

The Ectodus are eating like pigs.  IF the blue moon id tag goes as published, it looks like I got 8 males and 4 females, which is not a good ratio, but when its bag and grab time you gotta do what you gotta do.

The Trewvasae are in TRio's and I got 3 really nice 4.5"+size males, and one really 4.5" female.  The others are are 3.5 to 4"

Jonathan won the coin toss and got the top male, but I grabed the largest female

                        Take care!!

I know they are horrible pics.... but its all I have. I'd rather watch the fish that try to mess with the camera.
